Lightweight classic knife equipped with folding, locking blade with a length of 7 cm

The blade with a Clip-Point profile is made of stainless steel and polished to a semi-matte sheen. The blade is ground with a flat-full grind close to a zero-grind, which combined with the small blade thickness provides above-average cutting properties

The knife can be opened thanks to the notch on the blade, similar to Victorinox pocket knives. In the open position, the blade is locked by the Virobloc lock, patented in 1955 Virobloc lock. This is a steel ring on the handle, located at the rotation axis of the blade. After opening the knife, we rotate it a few degrees to cover the slot on the blade in the handle, so the blade cannot move. Similarly, we secure the knife against accidental opening after folding

The handle is made of oak wood It is ergonomically shaped and provides a secure, warm grip. An additional advantage of the handle is its susceptibility to modifications. The simplest would be to drill a hole at the back of the handle for a safety cord. We can also give it any texture, carve it, and stain it in the chosen color

Opinel

Militaria.pl is a premium dealer of Opinel.

Opinel is a French knife brand whose history dates back to 1890 in Savoy. The founder, Joseph Opinel, created the first folding knife, No. 08, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the Virobloc locking system was introduced, later modernized, which is still the hallmark of the brand today. In 1985, Opinel was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum as one of the 100 best-designed objects in the world, and the brand's knives also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production takes place in Chambery, with an emphasis on quality and ecology - the wood comes from French forests and the waste is used to heat the factory. Among the famous users was Pablo Picasso, who used Opinel for carving, and the knives themselves have become a symbol of simplicity, durability, and the French lifestyle.

The entire oak series and more broadly the de luxe (walnut and olive) are great. Oak has a somewhat rustic, rough texture – depending on the piece you get – either painterly grain or even more spectacularly – rounded, grainy irregularities. As far as I know, Oak may be available in sizes 6, 8, and 9, so 6 is the most compact.
