High school students receive basic instruction in shooting with firearms as part of the subject Education for Security, formerly Defense Preparation. In order to learn how to use small arms, it is necessary to properly equip students with equipment, as well as to prepare the shooting range. During the course of the class, students can fire ball guns, air guns (both carbines and pistols) and replica ASG small arms. Wind guns designed for instruction are spring-loaded air or CO2-powered propelling weapons, usually in 4.5mm caliber. On the other hand, when using ASG, plastic balls in 6 mm caliber are used. Various types of dummy weapons, knives or grenades are also used in classes. Former defense training classes also prepared students with field orientation.
