A History of Surplus Firearms Import

Century Arms was founded in 1961 in Burlington, Vermont by Williams and Wallace Becker. From the outset, the company specialized in importing surplus small arms from European and Eastern European markets — Mauser rifles, WWII-era firearms, and equipment from disbanding armies were imported, refurbished, and sold into a growing collector market. After 1989, when the fall of the Iron Curtain opened access to vast stockpiles of Warsaw Pact military equipment, Century Arms became one of the leading importers of AK-pattern rifles and other arms from the region.

AK Platforms and Derivatives

Today, Century Arms both imports and manufactures (at its own facility in Vermont) AK-platform rifles, including the VSKA — built entirely in the US from domestically produced components — as well as the C39V2 and others. The company also imports the RAS47, M74, and various other AKM variants in multiple calibers.
