Singing Rock

Singing Rock is a Czech manufacturer of climbing equipment and personal protective equipment for work at height, founded in 1992 by two Czech climbers — Vladimír Křapka and Pavel Končinský — along with Belgian partner Jan Goddefroy. The company grew from a modest garage workshop in Poniklá in the Sudeten mountains into a modern manufacturing operation with multiple facilities across the Czech Republic, establishing itself as a respected European producer of climbing, rescue, and height safety equipment. All production takes place in the Czech Republic, close to the legendary crags of Bohemian Paradise and the Jizera Mountains, where many of the company's employees climb on their own time.

From garage workshop to industry leader

Before Singing Rock existed, co-founder Vladimír Křapka made a living sewing backpacks and sandals for the popular Tucan brand. That hands-on experience with textiles and manufacturing became the foundation for the new company. The business launched in the wake of the Velvet Revolution of 1989, when the Czech market opened up to private enterprise and interest in climbing surged. The first UIAA-certified climbing harnesses appeared as early as 1994 — just two years after the company was founded.

Methodical expansion of core competencies was the key to Singing Rock's success. In 1995, automated machines for strength-seam stitching were acquired; in 2001, an in-house rope production line was launched; and in 2011, the Raveltik facility was acquired, extending the product range into hardware — ice axes, crampons, and ice screws. This gave the company the ability to supply climbers and alpinists with a complete equipment setup from a single source.

Innovation and patents

Singing Rock has a genuine track record of innovation, backed by patented solutions in its portfolio. The ROUTE 44 rope construction technology (patent 2002) delivers exceptional strength and dynamic performance through an advanced braiding process. The ROCK&LOCK buckle system for harnesses (patent 2003) is an ergonomic, durable closure that combines user comfort with a sound approach to safety. Further innovations include 3D shaping technology for harnesses, providing an anatomical fit to the body.

Singing Rock offers a complete equipment lineup for climbers and alpinists: harnesses (sit, full-body, children's, and work), dynamic and static ropes (including work-at-height ropes), carabiners in a range of shapes and materials, belay and descender devices, helmets, technical ice axes, crampons, and ice screws. A dedicated line covers personal protective equipment for workers at height — construction workers, electricians, arborists — meeting EN standards for PPE.

All equipment is UIAA-certified and compliant with European EN standards — an absolute requirement for products that safeguard human life. The company also operates a training center and a network of partners certified under the IRATA rope access system.
