Military ponchos

A military poncho is a specially designed type of rain poncho. Tactical ponchos are characterised by sturdy construction, robust finishing and the use of materials resistant to abrasion, tears and other mechanical damage. The fabric is very often impregnated, making it even more resistant to moisture and cold. 

Special Forces ponchos are usually equipped with adjustment and fastening systems that allow the poncho to be adjusted to fit the figure, as well as unfolded in different configurations. In tactical situations, during military operations, as well as on bushcraft, survival expeditions or lighter hiking trips, a special forces poncho can be used to construct an emergency shelter (such as an improvised bushcraft tent or canopy). Ponchos are also useful as a mat to sit on at rest stops, a hammock or even an emergency stretcher.
