Boker Magnum Classic Hunter Folding Knife

Folding hunting knife featuring three lockable blades. The cutting elements are made from 440A stainless steel. The knife is manually opened using a nail notch, and a Back Lock mechanism secures the blades against accidental folding. The finish includes wooden scales on the handle and steel bolsters.

440A stainless steel

440A stainless steel used in the knife is selected for everyday use and fieldwork. This material achieves a hardness of approximately 56-58 HRC, offering a good balance between corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and ease of sharpening. 440A is characterized by high resistance to moisture and rust, good impact resistance, and moderate resistance to wear and dulling. Thanks to the relatively fine grain structure of the steel, the blade can be easily and quickly resharpened even with basic tools.

three cutting tools

The model is equipped with a Clip-Point blade, skinning blade, and saw. The length of the main blade is 90 mm, and its thickness is 3 mm.

wooden handle with steel bolsters

The handle features wooden scales that give the knife a classic look. The construction is complemented by steel bolsters that emphasize the traditional character of the model. At the end of the handle, there is a hole for a cord or lanyard.

Back Lock and nail notch opening

All three blades are secured by a Back Lock mechanism, which reduces the risk of accidental folding during use. The main blade is opened manually using a nail notch.

440A feature
440A
440A steel is a martensitic stainless steel from the 440 series, characterized by a carbon content of 0.6-0.75%. It is a steel with relatively lower hardness compared to 440B and 440C, reaching a hardness in the range of 55-57 HRC, which ensures good sharpness and resistance to chipping. The chromium content (16-18%) guarantees good corrosion resistance, especially in humid conditions. 440A steel also contains molybdenum (up to 0.75%), which increases wear resistance and improves structural stability during hardening. Manganese and silicon additives (up to 1%) improve the hardenability and strength of the material, while low phosphorus and sulfur content reduces brittleness. 440A steel is a popular choice for mid-range knives such as kitchen knives, folding knives, and EDC knives. It is a good value steel that offers optimal cutting properties and is relatively easy to sharpen. Although it does not achieve the same high hardness as 440B or 440C, its corrosion resistance and strength make it a valued choice for knives with moderate requirements.
