The Helikon-Tex Classic Army Windblocker jacket has a slightly more fitted cut than the Classic Army model in size XL. However, this is not a major drawback, as it is compensated by some truly important advantages. The windproofness of the jacket is excellent. It would be a pity if it disappeared from the assortment.

Helikon-Tex Classic Army Windblocker Fleece Jacket - Black
Soft fleece pullover equipped with a windproof and breathable membrane. Functions effectively as an insulating layer beneath a jacket or can serve as a standalone outer layer. Enhanced durability is provided by Cordura reinforcements positioned in key high-wear zones prone to abrasion. The stand-up collar conceals a hood, offering protection against rain and wind in place of traditional headgear.
Warm fleece of high grammage, thermal comfort
Crafted from fleece fabric with a weight of 380 g/m2, the sweatshirt features a structure that ensures excellent breathability, wind resistance, and thermal insulation, forming an effective protective barrier during outdoor missions.
Windblock membrane, 8000 g/m2 breathability
According to tests performed by the American Material Test Association, the Windblocker membrane offers a breathability rating of 8000 g/m2, effectively transporting sweat and excess heat away from the body at a rapid rate.
4 practical pockets
Features four zippered pockets:
- two positioned at the hips
- one chest pocket, equipped with an opening designed for routing items like a headphone cable
- one pocket located on the sleeve, just above the cuff
Ventilation holes, elastic velcro cuffs
Enhanced airflow during high-intensity activities is achieved through the use of specially engineered underarm panels with zippers. These panels enable rapid expulsion of excess heat and moisture, supporting thermal regulation and helping to prevent overheating during demanding physical exertion.
For optimal fit, the fleece features sleeves with adjustable cuffs. The Velcro fastening system allows users to secure the cuffs snugly around the wrists for maximum cold protection or loosen them when increased ventilation is required.
Two-way YKK zipper, windproof strip
Secured with a YKK plastic ankle zipper equipped with dual sliders, the sweatshirt offers high resistance to low temperatures, water ingress, and clogging from dirt. An extensive sealing strip provides optimal wind protection. Partial unzipping of the main zipper from the bottom grants easy access to pant pockets or gear attached to a belt.
Concealed hood, high stand-up collar
The adjustable tall stand-up collar offers superior protection for the neck and face against wind and cold. Additionally, the hood concealed within the collar ensures reliable head coverage during severe weather conditions.

A great compromise between wind blocking and breathability. I was skeptical, but after a few days of use, I am pleasantly surprised. Pros: breathability combined with wind blocking, a large chest pocket—it fits a full tang knife, long cut—it doesn’t expose your back, works well with a backpack. Cons: no mesh under the armpit zippers, a bit stiff.

I had been hunting for this fleece-jacket for a long time. Finally a promotion came up in my size (L is perfect—185 cm, 97 kg). Worth every penny. Sewn, as always with Helikon, perfectly. Very warm, you feel it as soon as you put it on. Plenty of pockets and all the zippers work smoothly without jamming. Hidden hood and extra ventilation options make this my second skin for the autumn-winter period.

Great FLEECE, as an owner of the Patriot for 3 years, switching to this one I can highly recommend it—heats great and protects against wind, slightly stiff at first when you put it on over a t-shirt, but after a while it goes away and it becomes very comfortable.

The fleece, or actually you could say jacket—thanks to the windstopper—is very nice. It fits well, size L is just right for me (176 cm, 120 cm chest, and a solid 98 kg). I wear three thinner layers under the sweatshirt and it's perfect—not too tight, not too loose, I can do everything normally, and in such a setup you can easily move around outside at around zero. Probably, with more activity than just walking calmly, it would be too warm, but I personally haven't tested it in such conditions. As long as there's no very strong wind and precipitation, it's good. I recommend it.
-
The only thing you can criticize is the sizing; the rest is perfect as far as the fleece is concerned. I recommend buying it; it works well as a liner for a jacket or even as a jacket on less cold days.
-
As previous reviewers wrote—you have to wear it in a bit because it's stiff, and the sleeves are at least too long. The sweatshirt really has good thermal insulation. The collar is a bit too small in circumference. A downside is the armpit vents—without mesh lining, they open up too much when unzipped. Overall, at this price, it's okay.

Very nice fleece. Great cut. Beautiful red inner lining. I own several Helikon fleeces in size L. I had to exchange this one for XL because it was too small. The fleece has a windblocker membrane; I tested it with the Helikon Patriot on a windy day. I wore an undershirt and a very thin fleece underneath. I alternately wore the Patriot and the Classic Army Windblocker. Honestly, it can’t compare to the cozy Patriot. With the Patriot I was really warm, the fleece is loose, nice, and soft. The Classic Army Windblocker is stiff, and even though it has a membrane, it feels cold inside. It doesn’t let the wind through, but it still feels cold. It’s as if a cold metal plate is wrapped around me.

Wonderful fleece. I had several Helikon fleeces, all of them very good, but this one is the best. All winter it replaced a heavy coat and I was never cold. On warmer days, the side zippers can be opened, providing excellent ventilation. Many spacious pockets with storage compartments. Perfectly protects against cold and wind. I recommend it!

The fleece is really very good quality and meets all expectations. For me, the only downside is that a POLISH brand fleece is made in China. It's a shame that our companies don’t do everything themselves from start to finish. Even if I wanted to support the POLISH market, some of the money ends up abroad. If I wanted a Chinese fleece, I could have paid half as much.

Top class fleece. At 173 cm and 75 kg, size S is perfect. If someone with similar measurements wants to wear it over a thicker sweatshirt, I recommend choosing size M. It’s fine for a t-shirt or a thin sweatshirt with short sleeves, but it’s mainly for wearing over thermal underwear, etc. Really worth recommending.
-
Product matches the description, worth its price. The fleece is warm, protects against wind. Comfortable and practical, elegant liner color. Overall, I’m happy with the purchase and recommend it. 5 stars.
-
Great wind blocker, very good quality, but unfortunately, it's not a classic army anymore. No Velcro like in MON warmers and HELIKON added a red lining! I thought I would use it at work, but it will be for the mountains!
-
The fleece is very warm, combined with level 2 underwear and a shirt it’s sufficient for temperatures of minus several degrees. Plenty of pockets, materials and workmanship are of good quality. The windblocker works; wind doesn’t pass through. I had to exchange the size for one larger because of the sleeve length (had the same issue when buying a Helikon shirt—guess my arms are longer than standard).

Overall, the product is worth its price, especially if bought on some promotion. Protects well against wind, functional vents, lots of pockets, well-stitched. Yes, the membrane itself has slightly worse (breathability) parameters than, for example, the original windstopper, but a jacket with that membrane costs two or even three times as much. A great product, taking the overall into account.
