Medium-sized, ultra-light folding knife featuring a 7 cm locking blade. A timeless classic from a renowned French manufacturer with a heritage spanning over a century.

Model from the Opinel Colorama collection, equipped with a handle in Sage Green.

The blade sports a clip point design, crafted from Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel and polished to a satin semi-matte sheen. Engineered with a flat-full grind nearly reaching a zero-grind, together with a slim blade profile, this configuration delivers outstanding cutting efficiency.

Blade deployment is facilitated by a notch, akin to those found in Victorinox pocket knives. When opened, the blade is secured by the patented Viroblock locking mechanism from 1955—a steel safety ring on the handle, positioned at the blade’s pivot. A slight rotation of the ring after opening covers the blade slot in the handle, locking the blade securely. Likewise, after closing, the lock prevents unintentional opening. A simple yet remarkably effective safety system.

Crafted from beech wood, the handle is ergonomically contoured to offer a secure, comfortable, and warm grip. Additionally, the handle lends itself well to personal customization, easily accepting texturing or carving.

An excellent companion for camping or wilderness excursions, especially suited for those who appreciate tradition and natural materials.

Opinel

Militaria.pl is a premium dealer of Opinel.

Opinel is a French knife brand whose history dates back to 1890 in Savoy. The founder, Joseph Opinel, created the first folding knife, No. 08, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the Virobloc locking system was introduced, later modernized, which is still the hallmark of the brand today. In 1985, Opinel was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum as one of the 100 best-designed objects in the world, and the brand's knives also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production takes place in Chambery, with an emphasis on quality and ecology - the wood comes from French forests and the waste is used to heat the factory. Among the famous users was Pablo Picasso, who used Opinel for carving, and the knives themselves have become a symbol of simplicity, durability, and the French lifestyle.

I had no expectations, I needed something small quickly and I am pleasantly surprised – it's comfortable to hold, easy to handle, the workmanship looks average but actually seems solid

The dimensions are small, making it perfect for EDC. Due to its construction, I only use it when preparing food, where it does its job well.
