The Air Rifle Air Arms S510 S/L Ambi Traditional is equipped with an integrated sound moderator, which also functions as a gas moderator. A key upgrade is the newly designed SL (short for Side Lever) cocking system, which utilizes a bolt mechanism similar to the biathlon-style (2-stroke), enabling rapid cycling and reloading without shifting the rifle's position or losing sight of the target.

ATTENTION!!!
Filling PCP air rifles requires a suitable compressed air source:
- A cylinder, from which air can be transferred using a PCP fill kit,
- or a pump.

The air introduced or transferred into the rifle’s reservoir must be dry, preventing corrosion. The reservoir should always maintain a minimum charge of approximately 30 BAR to remain self-sealed.

For safety—of both the air rifle and the shooter—the cartridge will automatically vent if the maximum fill of 250 BAR is surpassed, safely releasing excess compressed air. Overfilling the cartridge beyond the permissible limit can result in irreversible damage, so the recommended fill pressure should remain below 190 BAR. Once fully charged, the system provides up to 80 consistent shots (approximately 65 in .177 caliber and about 80 in .22).
The package contains an adapter to allow air filling by both methods. The rifle features a built-in manometer for monitoring the pressure inside the reservoir.

The barrel is precision-crafted by Lothar-Walther and measures 395 mm in length. With a 12-groove rifling and a 450 mm twist rate, optimal spin is imparted to lightweight projectiles not exceeding 360 m/s. The barrel is finished with an external thread for mounting an additional moderator.

Pellet loading is accomplished by retracting the SL side lever, employing the 2-stroke operation to rotate the 10-shot rotary magazine. Pushing the lever forward chambers a pellet into the barrel, ready for firing. Constructed from robust polymer, the magazine features a clear cover facing the shooter for easy monitoring of remaining pellets.

The trigger offers adjustable settings for both pull weight and travel distance. A spring-loaded mechanical safety effectively guards against accidental discharge from unintended trigger contact.

Handcrafted from a single piece of poplar, the stock is reminiscent of a classic hunting rifle. It features a Monte Carlo-style profile with a high cheek piece, enhancing comfort while aiming. A soft rubber butt pad secures the rifle against the shoulder, providing stability during use.
Pistol and front grips feature pronounced grooves to improve hold and control, while also enhancing the rifle’s overall look. The fore-end is deeply cut for a classic hunting aesthetic, with the added benefit of reducing total weight.

The rifle comes without mechanical iron sights, but given its outstanding accuracy even at extended ranges, they are unnecessary—the level of grouping achieved far surpasses visual acuity. For greater precision, an optic can be mounted on the standard 11 mm two-piece scope rail.

Designed for ambidextrous use—suitable for both right- and left-handed shooters

Air Arms is a British brand operating since 1983, specializing in the production of spring and PCP air rifles. The company quickly gained recognition thanks to the TX200 model, which is still considered one of the best spring air rifles in the world. A distinctive feature of the brand is the use of cold-rolled barrels and precision adjustable trigger mechanisms. Air Arms was one of the first companies to introduce a multi-shot magazine system for PCP air rifles, which significantly increased the comfort and speed of shooting. The brand is associated with award-winning shooters such as Andy Calpin, a legend in the Field Target discipline, and James Osborne, a multiple champion and representative of the world's elite. Series such as the S400, S410, Pro Sport, and HFT 500 are recognized worldwide.

After a year of shooting without any 'maintenance' or anything like that, I finally decided it's worth leaving a review. It's worth its money. True, it lacks a regulator or some other conveniences, but both my unit and a few others I had the chance to "check out" were worth their price. Its accuracy is noteworthy – but that's the case with any PCP – with good pellets, at 60m you get pellet-on-pellet shots. A small tip for newcomers: I recommend Exact 4.50 / 4.51 / 4.52.
