Alpinus Zarand II Backpack 35 l - Grey

Grey backpack offering a 35-liter capacity. Constructed from robust and abrasion-resistant 210D nylon. Equipped with the ADS (Alpinus Dry System) for optimal ventilation and fitted with a rain cover featuring Alpinus Safety reflective details.

Dividable main compartment, compression straps, 6 pockets

A dual-level drawstring paired with a top flap secures the backpack. The main compartment features a zipper divider, creating two separate sections as needed. Contents can be reached from both the upper and lower access points. Side compression straps provide customizable volume adjustment according to the load, which improves control and stability during transport.

An internal pocket for documents is provided, along with two large elasticated side pockets suitable for items like water bottles, a front compartment for organizing smaller gear, two hip belt pockets for quick-access items, and a dedicated inner sleeve for a hydration reservoir.

Adjustable shoulder straps, chest and hip belt, ADS system, UTX buckle with emergency whistle

The carrying solution features wide shoulder straps, a chest strap, and a hip belt, all fully adjustable to distribute weight evenly during heavy loads, delivering exceptional comfort throughout wear.

Flexible foam padding in the back panel, shoulder straps, and hip belt enhances moisture management and promotes optimal airflow. An integrated ADS (Alpinus Dry System) incorporates a suspended mesh along a shaped aluminum frame, enabling unhindered airflow between the pack and the user’s back, significantly boosting comfort on extended treks.

The adjustable chest strap is secured with a UTX buckle equipped with an emergency whistle.

Rain cover, Alpinus Safety reflective elements

Equipped with a rain cover, the backpack is designed for demanding conditions. Alpinus Safety reflective elements enhance visibility, offering increased safety during nighttime hikes or when navigating through fog.

Very nice backpack for one or two-day trips. Comfortable and well made. A small downside is the hip belt, but I think it will generally work well. With a load of around 6 kg, you don't feel it on your back.

Nicely made outdoor backpack. Good quality materials. Many functional pockets and compartments. Nice idea with the increased capacity by 10l. Rain cover included. And most importantly, a well-thought-out back contact construction for better comfort. I recommend it.

Build quality is average. A lot of loose threads. You have to burn them off with a lighter. The materials look solid, but they have a certain 'chunkiness' to them. Anyone who's ever had a branded backpack will understand what I mean immediately. Carrying system - straps, hip support, hip belt – it’s not the best. Weak support of the backpack on the hips, which means it can max out at 10-12 kg, so its load capacity is limited to about 8.5-10.5 kg. Hard, rough straps mean that in the summer, it's only good for short trips – marches of, say, 20-48 hours, are not for this backpack. The ventilation indicates it’s a pack for warmer seasons. Capacity of 35 liters is achieved by multiplying the extreme dimensions of the packed backpack. But the pack isn’t a cuboid. Plus, it has ventilated back. My measurements weren't off. It's slightly bigger than my 20-liter Osprey for speed hiking. It has about 22-23 liters. You can maybe squeeze something into the side and front pockets, but they're not made from very stretchable mesh. But the mesh seems durable. Altogether maybe you’ll get about 25 liters. Attachment options are almost nonexistent. Some tabs where you can hook a mug (I've never understood why people do that). With a lot of effort, you can attach a sleeping mat to it. The top flap has two pockets and here’s a surprise, because the outer zipper is reversed—not on the head side but on the front. Why? No idea, maybe just to make it awkward to use. It’s also short and difficult to reach into. The hip belt pockets are very small. The hip belt will fit someone with a waist of 160 cm. The chest belt barely fits someone with a 98 cm chest. The main compartment is accessible from the top and the bottom, which is nice. The compartments can be divided – there’s a zip-closed divider. A 2-season sleeping bag easily fits into the lower compartment. Intended use? For hiking e.g. in the mountains, with overnight stays under a roof. Going light, you could do, for example, GSB/GSS trails with it. Also works for full-day mountain trips. The backpack lacks the possibility to fasten trekking poles. That's a huge oversight. For many, this disqualifies the backpack for touring applications. Promotional price (229 PLN, minus points: mine came out to 201 PLN) is a very good deal. At the regular price (about 350 PLN) it’s not worth considering.

I managed to get the backpack at the price of 229 PLN. After two outings, I can confidently say that it's fantastic. The backpack is very spacious, the material is good, and the frame does its job. I recommend it.

Very nice backpack for day trips. For me, it's important that it has a mesh back. It's also good that the main compartment can be separated—you can reach something from the bottom. The drawback is the narrow hip belt.

The backpack is amazing. The additional opening at the bottom of the backpack is fantastic. Material, strap adjustment, pockets, fastenings, everything is great. The only thing I can complain about is that the hip belt pockets could be a bit longer because they reach too far back and are hard to access. But maybe that's just my impression. Overall, the backpack is amazing. Perfect for weekend trips and also for longer ones. I recommend it.

The backpack is quite well made, quite spacious for its volume, it has all the necessary extras (straps at the bottom and on the sides, hip and chest belts...), it's stiff thanks to the frame but unfortunately, for a person of medium height (180+), the distance between the hip belt and the main carrying system is a bit too small.
