Foldable knife Bestech Knives Sledgehammer - Black

Folding knife designed with an overall length of 182 mm, equipped with a blade measuring 76 mm in length and featuring a tanto point. The blade is constructed from D2 tool steel, a material valued for its exceptional resistance to abrasion and chipping. A flat grind is applied to the blade, complemented by a stonewash finish that imparts a matte appearance. The handle is fitted with a Liner Lock system and outfitted with black Micarta handle scales.

D2 tool steel

The blade is crafted from D2 tool steel, renowned for its exceptional abrasion resistance and ability to maintain a sharp edge over extended use. Featuring a high-carbon composition and elevated levels of chromium, D2 steel forms a significant number of hard carbides—providing outstanding edge retention when tackling tough materials. While D2 ensures reliable blade stability, its impact resistance remains moderate, making it ideal for cutting tasks rather than for heavy-duty prying.

blade with tanto profile, flat grind, PVD coating

The blade featuring a Tanto profile is engineered for superior tip strength and efficient penetration of tough materials. The distinct, sharp transition between the main edge and the tip offers an additional cutting point, boosting performance during precision slicing. A reinforced tip profile greatly minimizes the risk of tip breakage under heavy-duty use. Especially effective for tactical and EDC use, this blade form excels where both superior piercing ability and enhanced blade control are crucial. Jimping along the spine delivers reliable thumb traction for a secure grip.

The Sledgehammer model incorporates a flat grind, renowned for its excellent cutting characteristics, minimal drag, and consistent stability through cuts. Flat grind extends toward the tip, increasing durability and resistance against damage in critical areas. A continuous curve along the cutting edge improves overall slicing performance. Finished in Stonewash, the blade resists visible scratching for lasting aesthetics.

handle with Micarta, spring clip

The scales of the ergonomically contoured handle are crafted from black Micarta. A dedicated finger groove provides added protection, reducing the risk of the hand slipping onto the blade. Convenient carry is ensured by a tip-up clip, making it easy to secure the knife to a belt, pocket edge, or other gear.

thumb stud, Liner Lock

Equipped with a double-sided thumb stud on the blade, the knife can be swiftly deployed with either hand using the thumb. A ceramic ball bearing integrated into the knife’s main axis guarantees smooth operation. Once opened, the blade is securely locked in place by a Liner Lock.

D2 feature
D2
D2 is a high-carbon tool steel classified as semi-stainless, characterized by high wear resistance and the ability to maintain a thin, durable edge. It achieves a hardness of 57-62 HRC, which ensures long-lasting sharpness even with intensive use. Its chemical composition is a precisely selected combination of elements: carbon (1.4-1.6%), chromium (11-13%), molybdenum (up to 0.8%), vanadium (up to 1%), manganese (up to 1%), and silicon (up to 1%). The high carbon and chromium content ensures hardness and wear resistance, while molybdenum and vanadium improve the strength and durability of the cutting edge. Although D2 steel is not completely stainless, its corrosion resistance is sufficient to meet the requirements of most conditions of use. It is widely used in the production of mid-range and high-end knives, including handmade knives and cutting tools.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
Micarta feature
Micarta
Micarta is a composite material made of layers of fabric (including canvas, linen, and paper) soaked in resin and pressed under high pressure and temperature. It is characterized by high mechanical strength, resistance to impact, abrasion, and changing weather conditions, as well as dimensional stability, which makes it ideal for knife handles. The surface of Micarta provides a secure grip and can be finished smooth or left with a slight texture to improve control over the tool. The material does not conduct heat or electricity, tolerates contact with moisture well, and acquires a characteristic patina over time, emphasizing the individual style of the knife. Thanks to its combination of durability, environmental resistance, and unique appearance, Micarta is widely used in EDC, outdoor, and collector's knives.

The knife is very well made, it opens and closes very smoothly. The material from which the handle is made is a bit slippery, but it sits well in the hand. One star less because it could have been a bit sharper from the factory.

A pleasant folder with a super sturdy tip, perfect for fans of poking and prying. Decent materials for a small amount of money. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
