A first-hand account, without unnecessary embellishment or media gloss. I recommend it to anyone interested in the topic. A very valuable book.
In April 2004, deep in central Iraq, the holy city of Karbala became the scene of fierce combat between Polish troops and the radical militia loyal to Muqtada al-Sadr. Polish soldiers, isolated in an unfriendly urban environment, defended the two-story City Hall for several days, surrounded by hostile forces and without any air support. The enemy forces vastly outnumbered them.
The militants launched relentless assaults, armed with mortars, RPGs, Pallad grenade launchers, and Dektaryov machine guns capable of piercing BRDM armor. Showing no regard for the laws of armed conflict, they fought with fanatic determination and a willingness to lay down their lives.
Presented here is the narrative of the City Hall garrison's commander, offering an unfiltered, direct testimony of valor and the brutal realities of modern warfare.
The volume is available in Polish.

The book excellently depicts the state of the Polish army in the early 21st century, as well as the military contingent in Iraq. The author, in a soldierly style, conveys the realities of those events in short and simple words, but also analyzes situations and draws interesting conclusions about the future. I recommend it.

An interesting book that excellently shows the participation of our troops as well as stories that are much more fascinating than those in the film about Karbala. I recommend it to every fan of the military and military history!
-
An excellent report that provides a much more realistic perspective than the film and shows a much broader perspective of both the battle and the course of the 2nd rotation in Iraq, as well as their impact on the Polish Army from the perspective of lower rank soldiers.
