The knife is unfortunately not very sharp. The biggest downside is the sheath, which holds the knife ridiculously tightly, so when trying to pull the knife out a few times I either tore it off my belt or almost pulled my pants up to my chest. Terrible!
Cold Steel Safe Maker I AUS-8A Knife
Push-dagger style knife featuring a “T” shaped grip, where the handle is positioned perpendicular to the blade, engineered for tactical uses and personal protection. Outfitted with a blade featuring a dagger shape, crafted from Japanese AUS‑8A stainless steel and finished with a Stonewash process for a non-reflective, matte look. The handle, made from black Kray‑Ex material, provides a secure and reliable hold. Included is a Secure‑Ex sheath system and a chain, enabling convenient carry options such as wearing the knife around the neck.
Japanese AUS-8A steel
Forged from Japanese AUS-8A steel, the blade offers long-lasting sharpness and can be easily resharpened in the field. A specialized heat treatment brings the blade to a hardness of 58-60 HRC, delivering excellent edge retention and rugged durability.
symmetrical Dagger blade, Stonewash finish
Dagger-shaped plain blade (dagger) with a length of 114 mm and a thickness of 5 mm features a symmetrical profile and is sharpened on both sides. The blade sports a finish achieved through the Stonewash process, resulting in a matte surface that minimizes light glare and enhances resistance to scratching.
Kray-Ex handle scales
The handle of the knife utilizes Kray-Ex material with pronounced texturing, providing a reliable and secure hold. Known for its excellent shock absorption, Kray-Ex effectively dampens vibration during impact or thrust maneuvers. The ergonomic design of the handle guards against hand slippage, granting superior knife control, whether in wet weather conditions or while wearing gloves.
Secure-Ex system sheath, chain for neck carry
The included sheath, designed in the Secure-Ex system, is crafted from a lightweight, robust, and weather-resistant material. Multiple holes are incorporated for versatile mounting options or threading a cord. The sheath ensures a secure grip on the knife, effectively preventing any accidental release. Featuring a clip, the sheath may be attached to a belt or other gear. For added convenience and comfort during everyday tasks, the knife can also be carried around the neck using the supplied ball chain.

Handy dagger, good steel, the price is good for this steel, good company, I like this dagger because it can be easily hidden, it's easy to hold, nice shape, sharp, it can be used for other things.
-
Very good equipment. I’m very satisfied with it. I would definitely buy it again. No need to hesitate. Cold Steel is indeed a solid brand. I recommend shopping at militaria.pl.
-
It's quite hard to take out of the sheath. Other than that, it's incredible—I don't leave home without it. Sharp, although I still sharpened it further. Fits very well in the hand, and I have large hands.
-
Top-notch, I recommend it. For me, it's the ideal size for a defensive knife to feel confident without being big and uncomfortable to carry. I have a Cold Steel SR1 and Ti-Lite 4, but personally, this one suits better what it was created for.
-
Brilliant knife for self-defense. Easy to conceal, excellently made from top-quality materials. I highly recommend it to everyone because it’s definitely worth it.
-
Nice little knife for self-defense. It can be easily hidden and kept in inconspicuous places. Great quality of workmanship and materials used. I highly recommend it, it's worth getting one.
-
As expected from Cold Steel—great quality at a great price. Much better size than the Safe Maker II.
-
Fast shipping, the product makes a very good impression, everything's ok, I recommend it.
-
Great, solid knife. Factory sharpened to an extreme degree. Serves as a self-defense tool—very easy to conceal.
-
I rate it very highly, it sits perfectly in the hand, very intuitive grip. For me, the sheath is very good, you can attach it to a belt. The knife is supposedly dedicated to self-defense, but it's also quite good for opening packages, cutting cords, making holes in material, etc. For me, it's useful when climbing a steep slope, when there's nothing to grab and your legs lose grip. Just stick it firmly in the ground and it becomes a 'temporary handle' :) Besides that, it's very lightweight.
-
Good quality workmanship. Factory sharpening as expected from CS - no objections.
-
Great little knife, worth its price. Durable, I recommend it! I would buy it again.
-
The ideal push dagger, in my opinion, better than a karambit in some respects. You can cut with a forehand or a swing, and thrust—easily switching between the above. Large handle ensures a secure grip. INTERESTING FACT: For example, in the small Cold Steel Best Pal dagger, the flat side of the blade is flat :), in the Safemaker it is concave, which greatly affects the ease of cutting and sharpening—the cuts are slightly curved due to the shape. Japanese chisels are made similarly—thanks to the indentation, they cut superbly.
-
Extremely sharp and durable knife, perfect for personal protection.
