It made such a good impression on me that I bought a second one. Despite the small size, the sharp tip allows for digging even in hard ground, and that's no problem at all.
-
For me, the spade is almost ideal. Simple construction without any folding, although the whole thing is compact, the metal part itself is quite large. Sharpened very well, which most factory spades lack. Screwed to the handle with two screws, it looks a bit cheap, but it holds without any play. You can use it as a hatchet or machete (of course, within reason).
-
Looking at other reviews of this product, I won't say anything new, it's a solid and durable construction, I think sturdier than folding models, digs and chops like crazy ;) You can even use it as an axe for thinner branches. I didn’t notice that a sheath is available for it; you have to buy it separately.
-
Perfect to throw in the car trunk, digs incredibly well, and can be used as a small axe if you don’t have a standard one on hand. It’s said to be indestructible, but we’ll see.
-
An incredibly durable and well-made spade from Cold Steel. Even while digging, it cuts through roots quite sharply, I don't have to use a machete anymore. Quality in itself. I recommend it to everyone.
-
Solid equipment. You can not only dig with it :) strong. Powerful. The brand speaks for itself. Especially in terms of self-defense. I recommend carrying it in the car for every occasion.

Digs effectively while cutting through roots easily, chops, and is truly an effective self-defense tool at camp (hopefully it never needs to be used as such, because it's a killer). In case of heavy rain or prolonged downpours, you can efficiently trench your tent/area around the tarp. With a Cold Steel spade, all you need additionally is a folding saw, and you also don't need a large knife for batoning. A smaller knife for cutting and shaving is sufficient, and you have a set of tools that lets you do a lot at camp. Obviously, everyone assembles their own set of tools best suited to their needs for outdoor trips. Some prefer a small axe for camping, others a spade (the spade is, after all, safer because it has less inertia in use). Both tools have overlapping functions but also differ in what only one or the other can do. If you don't want to carry both (and in most cases, you don't :)), you need to choose. When the spade arrived, the side edges were very sharp (I even managed to nick myself slightly), the front edge was less sharp. A few passes with a portable diamond sharpener fixed it. You can also sharpen it in the slot of a knife sharpener and it's really sharp. Buying a sheath (preferably a dedicated, well-fitting one) is a must. Lightning fast shipping – as always at Militaria.pl.

The shovel itself is great, digs on its own, tested today. The handle doesn't look like it's made from hard, strong wood that you could safely throw, but I could be wrong. What surprises me are some comments saying it's sharp and can be used for chopping and cutting. Mine arrived so dull (maybe that's an exception) that I can press my hand firmly against any edge and slide around the whole blade with no risk of cutting myself. However, it is relatively easy to sharpen with a file, and now that it’s sharper, I definitely need to get a sheath because it could easily cut up my backpack. For this price, after sharpening, it's a pretty nice shovel. I recommend it.

The Cold Steel Special Forces entrenching tool is the best shovel I have come across. Solid, perfectly seated, made from great thick steel... which, in my opinion, can really take a lot. If you are looking for a shovel you will use regularly, this is the best choice!

A very well-made shovel at a promotional price. Handy, durable, and sharp. Good value for money. I am satisfied with the purchase. I recommend it to others as well. I also bought a cover.
-
Neat and handy, very durable spade, perfect for Jeeping offroad. Solid, well balanced with an old-school look, it handled roots, firewood, digging out of mud, snow, and other debris.
-
A solid entrenching tool with the right weight. The nicely sharpened edges handle roots well. I have thrown it a few times and nothing happened. Highly recommended.
-
Very cool small spade, sturdy and elegant.
-
Nice spade inspired by WWII models. Does the job as intended. It is quite heavy, but I think for some that's a plus.
