Crosman Vigilante 4.5 mm Air Gun - Revolver

Among the most sought-after air pistols, this model operates on compressed carbon dioxide, featuring a threaded barrel and an oversized magazine, all wrapped in a contemporary design. Serving as the successor to the renowned Crosman 357 revolver air gun, the Crosman Vigilante stands out primarily through its external appearance. Showcasing a futuristic aesthetic that draws inspiration from Cyberpunk weaponry, Vigilante also improves upon its predecessor by introducing additional mounting rails that enhance the revolver's tactical capabilities.

CO2 drive

A 12 g CO2 cartridge housed in the grip provides the revolver with enough power for around 60 shots. For cartridge replacement, simply detach the left grip panel. The handle is crafted from robust plastic and ergonomically shaped for a secure, comfortable hold. Projectiles reach an initial velocity of 140 m/s.

Large magazine capacity

The revolver’s magazine accommodates 10 pellets, and neither the shape nor the weight of the pellets interferes with the mechanism’s function. Chambers are designed for 4.5 mm Diabolo mushroom-shaped pellets. Round 4.5 mm BB pellets may also be utilized. Using BB pellets necessitates a dedicated magazine, supplied with the product and featuring a capacity of 6 pellets. To reload or switch magazines, break open the barrel. The barrel is released by pressing a button positioned above the magazine on the top of the revolver. Once the barrel is opened, the magazine can be easily removed from the pin, which also acts as its rotational axis.

Trigger mechanism and safety

The trigger system functions in SA/DA (Single Action or Double Action) modes, featuring a moving hammer that enhances authenticity and shooting satisfaction:

  • In SA mode, once the hammer is manually cocked, the trigger pull is short and relatively light.
  • In DA mode, the hammer is cocked during the initial stage of the trigger pull and is released after passing a distinct resistance point.

A straightforward safety lock ensures protection by stopping the hammer from accidentally striking the gas valve.

Mechanical sighting devices and mounting rail

Equipped with a fixed front sight and a horizontally adjustable rear sight, the sighting system ensures precision aiming. Weaver/Picatinny mounting rails are positioned both on top and beneath the barrel, enabling secure attachment of accessories such as a flashlight, laser sight, or collimator.

Crosman is a brand with more than a century of tradition, which has been providing shooting enthusiasts with reliable air guns and ammunition for years. A turning point in its history was the introduction of the Powerlet CO2 cartridge in 1954 - a 12-gram capsule that revolutionized the market by offering 50% more gas than the 8-gram cartridges previously used. This allowed a much higher number of shots to be fired from a single capsule. Over the years, Crosman expanded its offerings, introducing airsoft replicas, optics and accessories. Today the brand offers a wide range of products that work well for both recreational shooting and professional training.

I wanted to adjust the collimator on it and... it's impossible. The revolver, fixed rigidly, has a spread of 50 cm in diameter at 10 meters. I would've gotten better results with a slingshot. Second, the barrel can be moved from side to side, which I consider a masterpiece of design fail.

The revolver works, shoots, nothing jams, so in this regard it's fine. Its supposedly very good or good accuracy looks like in the photos below. I was shooting with diabolo pellets, at a distance of 7 meters, with my hand resting on the door frame. In my opinion, this accuracy is like a seed drill. It would be good if you could fit into the black circle of the target at this small distance, and in this case, it's very poor.

I bought this pistol because it offers the option to shoot with diabolo pellets. It's a very pleasant airgun, perfectly sufficient for use in the garage when it's raining or snowing. At 8 meters, you can easily group shots within the black area on standard 14x14 targets.

The revolver itself is very good, but its drawback is the way it is powered, i.e., the position of the cylinder. After some time, the balls simply start to fall out of some magazines, which can be a bit annoying ;)

I bought this revolver with my grandson in mind. I tested it initially and my assessment is as follows: The advantages of this revolver are its nice, realistic appearance and that everything works correctly, it fires, nothing jams, and the pellets fly forward. However, the accuracy is very weak. In proper lighting, you can sometimes see the trajectory of the pellet, and it is clear that the pellets basically fly however they want, there are big deviations. With this revolver and probably all other CO2 pistols and revolvers, you can only shoot sensibly at targets no farther than 10 meters, at targets with a diameter of 15 cm or a square of 15 x 15 cm, because that's the spread this revolver gives, and that's poor. Such a result would be acceptable at even a distance of 20 m. The rifling in the barrel is actually a dummy, just to impress the buyer, and so the seller can say it's rifled in the description. For me, it's not rifling, just ordinary scratches, looking like someone ran sandpaper through the barrel in a circular motion. I tested the effect by pushing a diabolo pellet slowly through the barrel with a cleaning rod, lighting up the inside from the other side, and you can clearly see the pellet goes through the barrel without rotating at all, so these so-called riflings in these CO2 "guns" don't work at all. In comparison, in my old Iż 38 spring-powered air rifle, there are 6 grooves in the barrel and the pellet always rotates when being pushed through. I don't regret buying this revolver, because my 8-year-old grandson shoots with it under my supervision and is happy, but all those rave reviews about this and other CO2 pistols, supposedly written by adults, are laughable to me and turn out to be completely unreliable.

Very nice revolver, very accurate after adjusting the rear sight. You can easily turn the center of the target into a single 2 cm hole. It's worth buying a few extra magazines right away to avoid wasting time on reloading, as the magazine empties quickly and it's a pity to interrupt the fun and waste time. The CO2 cartridge is enough for about 60 accurate shots. After that you can shoot about 20 more, but I would only do it for fun, without expecting to hit the exact center. I recommend it to others.

The revolver looks great. When you hold it in your hand, you feel the weight of the gun. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, so my opinions are about the handling— let's say, "dry handling." When breaking the gun open to load it, be careful so the magazine doesn't fall out. It's loosely positioned on a pin that's in the front part of the barrel. So, you should break the revolver by bending the barrel downward, and this way you avoid the magazine falling out. I also advise being careful with the handle cover latch (which is removed to insert the CO2 cartridge), especially since it’s made of plastic. I'm a bit worried that over time, the latch will wear out and there will be annoying slack in the handle.

The revolver is very pleasant to use, it doesn't use up CO2 cartridges too quickly and keeps accuracy for a long time without needing replacement. Generally a very nice revolver.

Very nice airgun, excellently crafted. Heavy, fits well in the hand, and above all, precise. I absolutely do not recommend using BB pellets because they quickly destroy the barrel. At 20 meters it can pierce bottles, which is enough for shooting in the yard. I really like it and am very satisfied with it, so I recommend it.

I waited until I could check the revolver thoroughly. Looks great, shoots accurately, good option to swap the magazine for different pellets and I was able to shoot through phones when testing.

A good and simple revolver. I think it's good for starting an adventure with this type of air gun. The price is not scary. Cheap extra rings, but I also need to note that it's better to buy replacements from used to full, not because they wear out quickly. Maybe as a minus, the stock must be unfolded to change the cartridge, not just slid out.

Basically, I would give 4.5 stars. Overall, the equipment is cool, accurate, efficient CO2, easy to use, but in terms of build quality, that's where half a star gets taken off. However, I recommend it and I'm satisfied with the purchase.

Very nice pistol. Heavy, fits well in the hand, and above all, accurate. I strongly advise against using BB pellets as they quickly ruin the rifling. At 20m, it pierces bottles, which is more than enough for backyard shooting— I recommend it.

The revolver works great, accuracy for this price range is excellent (as for shooting with undersized pellets, only the orange ones :) ). The only weaker point is the grip covers, but even though they become looser over time, they still close and don't fall off. Highly recommended!!!
