ESS tactical glasses Crossbow One - Photochromic
ESS Crossbow ballistic glasses are part of the Cross-Series line and are designed with tactical users, shooters, and uniformed services in mind, requiring a high level of eye protection. The model is equipped with a photochromic ballistic visor providing 100% protection against UVA and UVB radiation and automatic adjustment of the tint level to lighting conditions. Flexible frames in Black color are compatible with interchangeable Cross-Series visors and allow the installation of an additional securing strap.
Polycarbonate visor, ClearZone FlowCoat technology
The visor is made of durable 2.4 mm thick polycarbonate, resistant to mechanical damage and deformation. The ESSOPTICS-compliant design provides a distortion-free image across the entire field of view and high optical quality during use in dynamic conditions. The applied ClearZone FlowCoat technology utilizes two protective layers: an external one that prevents scratches and an internal one that reduces lens fogging.
The applied photochromic visor with Transitions Optics Light-Adapting technology automatically adjusts the tint level to changing lighting conditions. Visor operating parameters:
- 50% activation in 11 seconds,
- 90% activation in less than 1 minute,
- visible light transmission (VLT): 86% - 24%.
Crossbow frames, Cross-Series design, silicone nosepiece
Flexible Crossbow frames are made of lightweight and durable material ensuring high comfort during prolonged wear. The Tri-Tech Fit technology reduces pressure points and improves the fit of the glasses to the user's head shape. The inner side of the temples is covered with non-slip rubber finish increasing glasses stability during movement. The model is equipped with a replaceable composite-silicone nosepiece improving wearing comfort. The Cross-Series design allows for quick visor exchange and compatibility with ultra-thin Suppressor frames, which work well with hearing protectors and communication systems.
Visor exchange system
The glasses are equipped with a DedBolt snap system allowing for quick and convenient visor exchange without tools. The mechanism uses profiled notches at the visor's ends and a central mounting hole, ensuring stable lens seating in the frame. The solution allows for efficient glasses configuration according to lighting conditions and user needs.
Cross-Series compatibility
The Crossbow model belongs to the Cross-Series platform, enabling the use of other visors from the same series and the exchange of standard frames for ultra-thin Suppressor temples. The solution increases glasses compatibility with active hearing protectors, communication sets, and tactical equipment. The design also allows for the installation of an optional flexible strap to secure the glasses against loss.
The glasses are compatible with corrective inserts:
- U-RX
- P-2B
- Vice

Anti-Fog coating prevents lens fogging, maintaining clear vision in humid conditions or during varying temperatures. Eyeglasses with this coating do not require frequent cleaning or defogging, making vision more comfortable.
The use of ClearZone FlowCoat technology protects the outside of the visor from scratching and the inside from fogging.
Tri-Tech Fit is a technology used in flexible glasses frames. It provides high wearing comfort and eliminates pressure points. It allows the glasses to fit the shape of the user's head.
DedBolt snap-in system allows for easy and very quick replacement of the visor - it is mounted by means of contoured notches on its edges and a hole in the center of the glasses.
Z87.1 standard developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for the durability of eye protectors. The standard includes two types of tests (3 tests) for the impact resistance of the lens and the stability of its seating in the frame: resistance to High Mass and High Velocity objects.
MIL-PRF-31013 is an American military standard that covers the requirements for protective glasses that provide ballistic eye protection. The standard specifies the glasses' ability to withstand the impact of a .15-inch (3.8-mm) steel bullet weighing 0.376 grams at 200 m/s.
