Honey Badger Wharncleaver Medium 8Cr13MoV Folding Knife - Black

EDC (Every Day Carry) folding knife featuring an 81 mm blade with a Wharncliff profile crafted from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel for exceptional toughness and resistance to corrosion. The handle utilizes a lightweight, rugged FRN composite and comes fitted with a reversible clip. Thanks to a compact and lightweight construction, this knife is ideally suited for daily carry.

Stainless steel, satin finish, jimping

Featuring a Wharncliff blade crafted from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, known for its reliable corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. A satin finish delivers a refined semi-matte appearance. Enhanced control during cutting is ensured by jimping (textured grooves) on the spine where the thumb rests.

Ceramic ball bearings, Liner lock

Blade deployment is achieved via a thumb notch or flipper, with a ball bearing mechanism enabling fast, fluid opening. Reliable blade retention is provided by a robust Liner Lock, renowned for its smooth action and easy one-handed use.

Handle made of FRN composite, reversible clip, lanyard hole

Handle scales are crafted from FRN composite—fiberglass reinforced nylon—renowned for its exceptional strength and lightweight properties. The ergonomically contoured scales feature a non-slip, honeycomb-like texture, providing a reliable and secure grip. A spring deep-carry clip is reversible for left or right side carry, ensuring convenient everyday portability. At the end of the handle, a lanyard hole allows for the attachment of a safety lanyard.

Honey Badger is a brand of EDC knives created in 2014 by South African designer Marc Ager, who has been involved in the outdoor and hunting industry for many years. The first models - Claw, Hook, and Flipper - were presented in 2016 at the HuntEx trade fair in Johannesburg and immediately gained recognition thanks to their solid construction, ergonomics, and exceptional value for money. The brand is characterized by lightweight designs with a convenient ball bearing opening system, available in many variants suitable for everyday use. Today, Honey Badger is present on international markets, with official distributors in the US, France, Australia, and New Zealand, among others. The brand name refers to the honey badger, a predator known for its courage and tenacity, symbolizing the character of the knives: small but extremely durable and effective.

A nice, lightweight folder. When it comes to EDC blades, I've found that the most practical are those that are simple, with little curvature, and without a rounded/pointed tip – the wharncliffe blade type meets these requirements. Safe, precise, easy to sharpen. The knife opens very smoothly and pleasantly. My only gripe would be with the quality of the handle scales – FRN is somewhat inferior to the materials used by other companies, but it's not a big issue, especially if you get the knife at a good price.
