I'll briefly repeat the commonly known advantages of Lowa shoes: made in Europe, the highest quality of materials and workmanship. However, I would like to focus on what might cause you to be disappointed in these shoes due to incorrect expectations (fueled by other reviews on the internet). Two popular models – Zephyr and Innox – are often described as being like a sneaker or a trainer but with a military look. This analogy is very misleading, as these shoes are, above all, much, much stiffer. The Zephyr's sole is almost as stiff as a board, so in the low version (shoe), the heel pops out of the shoe instead of bending as your foot does when walking. Innox is only a bit softer, but still much stiffer than any 'civilian' shoes you've known so far. In the MID boot it's not a problem because the boot holds better than the LOW version. Another thing is the GTX membrane. Even though it's original GoreTex and great, it still can't defy the laws of physics. In the summer, the inside of the shoe gets wet from sweat. Next time I’ll definitely buy a version without GTX. The last and most important point is the sole. In the pictures, it looks super grippy thanks to the deep lugs, but in practice it doesn’t perform at all on wet surfaces and snow. The gaps between the lugs are small and they quickly get clogged with snow. Classic trekking boots have much larger gaps so they clean themselves of snow. The Innox doesn’t, and that’s why once they fill up with snow, grip drops to zero. In spring/summer/autumn, on fairly smooth wet surfaces like paving stones, concrete, or garage tiles, these shoes are shockingly slippery. It's hard to believe until you experience it. The cause is the hardness of the sole compound – only a soft 'tire' provides grip. This one is hard (for durability), but as a result, these are the most slippery shoes I've ever had. If you want something more like sneakers or more civilian, I'd recommend the Innox EVO II (which I bought for my wife, and she is delighted).
