The book is fine but I'm waiting for an extended version with more photos and tips, maybe the author will be tempted to write a second part sometime. I recommend it for beginners and not only for them.
Łukasz Łuczaj - "Dzikie rośliny jadalne Polski. Przewodnik survivalowy" - Book
Over a thousand potentially edible plant species found in Poland are catalogued in this comprehensive guide. The majority of these plants have undergone personal testing by the author. Of particular note are the unique insights into how various species were traditionally used by indigenous communities in the Americas and Siberia.
Readers will discover that in Japan, people consume lily bulbs, daylily blossoms, and burdock roots, while the wild garlic featured on the cover is a staple vegetable in Ukraine, Russia, and the Caucasus region. Step-by-step instructions are provided for transforming acorns into both a flavorful snack and a potent drink—acorn beer, which surpasses plum compote in strength. Additional content reveals the methods Native Americans used to produce maple syrup and identifies the leafy plants the Chukchi relied on as essential winter food during severe food shortages.
An introductory section explains guidelines for plant identification and foraging, followed by alphabetical entries on each species.
As a singular volume in the Polish market, this book offers the most comprehensive resource on edible wild flora.
Authored by Dr. Łukasz Łuczaj, a specialist botanist dedicated to years of research and experimentation in wild plant consumption. He also leads survival training rooted in traditional knowledge and guides expeditions in partnership with Native American groups throughout North America.
The expanded second edition incorporates dozens of new recipes, color photographs, and additional plant profiles.

An interesting item, although as in another one (Field First Aid Kit), I think there should be lots of photos. It's better to have too many than too few. You can use your phone and graphics for examples, but it's not very convenient.
-
An excellent book for anyone interested in survival, bushcraft, or simply nature. The author describes plants clearly, and the illustrations help quickly recognize species in the field. Thanks to this book, I discovered that many edible and healthy plants grow in my area. It's a practical and inspiring guide I will return to often.
-
An excellent book. I’m planning a trip without bringing any food. This book let me learn what I can eat and what I’d better avoid. I think thanks to this book my chances for a successful trip will drastically increase.
-
A complete guide to edible native plants. It contains descriptions of over 1000 species, recipes, curiosities, and practical advice – ideal for lovers of wild cuisine!
-
I bought this book for my mother who is an avid gardener, and she was so absorbed by its contents that she spent hours reading in her armchair. I recommend it for gardeners.
-
An interesting title, one of those you’d rather have than not. Although, as someone wrote, it may be difficult to understand for a layperson in biology. The author's YouTube channel is definitely more accessible. Still, I recommend it.
-
For the collection on the topic: wild edible plants to deepen the subject, a well-known author, together with the YouTube channel it's a good set and choice.
-
I’m glad I bought this book. While hiking, I had never dared to pick and eat plants unknown to me. I want to try out the new information at the next opportunity and share this knowledge with my children and grandchildren, because our ancestors drew health from nature. Besides that, I think everyone should be prepared for how to manage if traditional food is lacking.
-
The book is written in a relatively interesting way. In the content and writing style, you can feel that the subject is the author’s passion. In my opinion, this book is for people with established botanical knowledge (the skill of recognizing plants from our native flora, not just the most popular ones). I hoped there would be more recipes for practical use of specific plants, but there’s a bit of ‘storytelling’ and little specifics.
-
In my humble opinion, this is a very useful book, especially for people who don’t know much about plants. It’s a nice guide to the flora—I recommend it.
-
The book is interesting from a natural and touristic point of view, but the practical application is smaller than I expected. There are more curiosities than real suggestions for use, but I still consider this book recommendable; it's clear the author approaches the subject with passion and significant knowledge.

In the forest, we pick mushrooms and berries or raspberries, which everyone probably knows. Thanks to this book, you can learn how many other little-known and tasty edible plants and fruits there really are.
-
An interesting book, it contains information about edible leaves, fruits, roots, and seeds.
