Maskpol Truck cap - MAPA B

Lightweight military trucker cap in MAPA B camouflage featuring mesh side panels for superior airflow and ventilation.

The MAPA camouflage pattern was developed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and current faculty member at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, and author of the publication Theory of Deconstruction of Visual Communication. Tools for Designing Military Camouflage (Gdańsk 2015). This innovative design, substantiated by robust theoretical and practical research—including computer analysis of thousands of landscape photographs—captivated both experts and manufacturers of military gear. In 2017, MAPA camouflage made its public debut at the International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce, being adopted for the Dromader gear and uniform system by Maskpol, part of the Polish Armaments Group. Developed with Territorial Defence Force personnel in mind, MAPA camouflage was also evaluated as a potential future standard for the Polish Armed Forces, potentially replacing the wz.93 pattern. However, MAPA was not ultimately adopted as the official camouflage for the Polish military.

Main features of the MAPA camouflage in the basic woodland variant:

- 6 colours arranged in layers evoking contour lines seen on maps
- Colours specifically optimized for Central European woodland environments
- Utilizes a three-dimensional effect along with anamorphosis
- Incorporates biomorphic shapes, giving the impression of natural vegetation
- Strongly contrasting components replicate highlights and shadows
- The macro-pattern distorts the silhouetted shape for enhanced concealment
- A micro-pattern simulates colour noise for additional blending

MAPA is a compelling alternative to top-tier modern camouflage patterns such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn, and the Finnish M/05. In some respects, the pattern offers more advanced features and presents a more accurate reflection of the colour palette typical of Central European forests from late spring to early autumn.

The front panel and visor are crafted from a high-quality blend of soft cotton and robust polyester in a 50/50 mix. The fabric is lightweight, breathable, and comfortable against the skin. Thanks to its Rip-Stop weave, the cap offers excellent resistance to tearing and abrasions. A hook-and-loop panel is positioned on the front, ideal for attaching identification tags, patches, or Morale Patches.
