- 2: abrasion resistance (rated from 0–4)

- X: cut resistance according to the TDM method (ISO 13997) (scale A–F)

The EN388 rating system defines protection levels as follows: a value of 0 indicates no protection, while the top ratings (4, 5) reflect maximum resistance.
