Woodland, frequently referred to as U.S. Woodland or M81, is an iconic camouflage design introduced to the US Armed Forces in the early 1980s, evolving from the ERDL pattern. Serving as the primary camouflage for the US military for more than twenty years, up until the close of the first decade of the 21st century, the pattern features large, irregular patches in multiple shades of green, brown, beige, and black, which offer excellent concealment and disruption, particularly within forest environments. Renowned for both effectiveness and international recognition, numerous variations were developed based on this design, with over 60 different military forces across the globe integrating versions into their uniforms. Its influence has extended far beyond military contexts, leaving a significant mark on popular culture and paving the way for its adoption in everyday fashion.
