Medium-sized, remarkably lightweight folding knife featuring an 8-centimeter locking blade. A time-honored classic crafted by a French manufacturer with over a century of expertise.

The blade, designed with a profile combining elements of bowie and clip point, is produced from stainless steel and given a semi-matte polish. Precision-crafted with a nearly zero-grind flat-full grind and minimal blade thickness, it delivers superior cutting performance.

Knife deployment is enabled by a notch on the blade, reminiscent of the system used in Victorinox pocket knives.
Blade lockup in the open position is ensured by the patented Viroblock lock. A steel collar at the blade pivot on the handle, once rotated a few degrees post-opening, fully covers the tang slot to prevent unwanted blade movement. A similar action locks the blade closed, safeguarding against accidental opening. An ingeniously straightforward and reliable system.

The handle is crafted from beech wood. Ergonomically contoured for a comfortable and secure grip, the material offers warmth in hand and lends itself well to custom modifications. Adding a lanyard hole at the handle’s end is straightforward, and the beech wood can be textured, carved, or stained to personalize its appearance.

A hole with a leather strap is positioned at the handle’s end.

Opinel

Militaria.pl is a premium dealer of Opinel.

Opinel is a French knife brand whose history dates back to 1890 in Savoy. The founder, Joseph Opinel, created the first folding knife, No. 08, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the Virobloc locking system was introduced, later modernized, which is still the hallmark of the brand today. In 1985, Opinel was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum as one of the 100 best-designed objects in the world, and the brand's knives also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production takes place in Chambery, with an emphasis on quality and ecology - the wood comes from French forests and the waste is used to heat the factory. Among the famous users was Pablo Picasso, who used Opinel for carving, and the knives themselves have become a symbol of simplicity, durability, and the French lifestyle.

Nice, atmospheric, and 'sticky' knife. After sharpening, it cuts really well. For some it’s a drawback, for others maybe an advantage - it does not have a blade lock so you need to be careful when using it.

Lightweight and small. The steel is quite soft, but easy to sharpen. Personally, I use it for cutting fruit outside the home. It's just a pocket knife.

This is my fifth Opinel in my life - I was not disappointed. The little knife is very light - the handles are made of light-colored wood. The safety "ring" is a matter of debate - some like it, others think it's too delicate. In my opinion, it's fine and does its job. The blade handles sharpening well and doesn't tend to chip. Definitely worth its price.

A must-have for anyone who appreciates a good, classic knife. Besides that, it's light and compact. I recommend it.

Great knife for kitchen tasks. For heavier tasks, it's a bit too small. Really well made and sharp. I recommend it.

Great knife for camping, for preparing food and everyday, less demanding tasks. For more heavy-duty tasks, it's a bit too small. Very well made for the price. I recommend it.

A very handy knife, which will definitely come in useful during camping; plus for the hole for a cord or lanyard in the handle.
