I've just received my shipment. This is already my third Opinel—8, 10 Carbon, and 12. This one immediately went in my pocket, the best size for everyday tasks ;) I recommend it.
Medium-sized, ultra-light folding knife featuring a 10 cm locking blade. A timeless model from a French brand with over a century of heritage.
The Clip-Point blade profile is crafted from high-carbon CX90 steel and finished with a semi-gloss polish. Boasting a nearly zero flat grind and minimal blade thickness, the cutting performance is outstanding.
The knife deploys via a notch on the blade, reminiscent of Victorinox pocket knife mechanisms.
Once open, the blade is secured using the patented Virobloc system introduced in 1955. The steel ring set around the handle at the pivot point rotates slightly to block the blade slot, ensuring the blade remains stable. For added safety, it can also lock the blade in the closed position to prevent accidental opening.
The handle is constructed from beech wood, ergonomically contoured for a comfortable, secure grip that stays warm to the touch. It offers excellent customization potential—users can drill a hole for a lanyard at the rear end or personalize it further with various textures, carvings, or stains.

Opinel is a French knife brand whose history dates back to 1890 in Savoy. The founder, Joseph Opinel, created the first folding knife, No. 08, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the Virobloc locking system was introduced, later modernized, which is still the hallmark of the brand today. In 1985, Opinel was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum as one of the 100 best-designed objects in the world, and the brand's knives also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production takes place in Chambery, with an emphasis on quality and ecology - the wood comes from French forests and the waste is used to heat the factory. Among the famous users was Pablo Picasso, who used Opinel for carving, and the knives themselves have become a symbol of simplicity, durability, and the French lifestyle.

I've just received my shipment. This is already my third Opinel—8, 10 Carbon, and 12. This one immediately went in my pocket, the best size for everyday tasks ;) I recommend it.
A great knife, a classic in itself. Quality unchanged for years. I bought this one for food because it's stainless steel. For heavier work, I recommend carbon steel, which stays sharp longer, but it requires more care.
I have almost all the sizes, but the ten is the best for me because I have big hands. When folded, it's relatively small, but when unfolded, it's a big knife.
The 10 is bigger than the classic number 8, making it a great knife for the outdoors or hiking, especially for food prep since it's stainless steel, so you don't have to worry after cutting veggies, etc. Remember to wipe it dry, because it tends to swell a bit and becomes harder to open, but that's just its charm.
After buying a standard No.8 and then No.7 My First Knife (with a rounded tip, for preserves), I wanted to take a closer look at the larger No.10 and this time in the carbon version, which is said to be much sharper. Indeed, it's quite a knife compared to those, but it requires care to protect it from moisture. I'm a bit worried that if I ever forget to oil it, it will rust, so for now I just admire its beauty and use the smaller stainless ones.
No one needs to be introduced to Opinel. Great workmanship and very sharp. I recommend it to everyone.
I immediately bought two models, No.10 and No.6, partly out of curiosity and partly for collecting. There's not much more to say, simply a classic knife. No.10 will definitely have a permanent place in my backpack. The perfect knife for camping and preparing meals. Light, super sharp, and the wooden handle is warm and pleasant to the touch. Beauty lies in simplicity!!! I recommend it to everyone wondering whether to buy an Opinel.
Completely different from typical folding knives, it stands out, and on top of that, it is sharp and excellently made.
I highly recommend it, sharp as a razor. For sandwiches, and for wood in the field.
Very simple knife design makes it hard to break, plus it has a very reliable lock.
Pleasant "grandfather's" penknife. Fits well in the hand. The flat grind means it slices bread and tomatoes efficiently. And above all, it's a piece of history.
Opinel is a class of its own
Well made and solid knife
Good knife, simple, there’s nothing much that can break in it, and it comes very sharp. In my opinion the size is ideal, not too big, not too small.
Great knife! The blade doesn't wobble and it's very sharp. I recommend it!
