Lightweight folding knife equipped with a 73 mm blade. The Clip-Point blade is crafted from INOX stainless steel and features a semi-matte finish. Its flat grind, combined with a slim blade profile, guarantees excellent slicing performance.

A thumb notch on the blade allows for easy opening, while the Virobloc lock ensures operational safety. Positioned at the blade’s pivot on the handle, the steel ring rotates a few degrees to cover the blade notch after the knife is opened, securing the blade in position. This locking mechanism also prevents accidental deployment when the knife is folded.

The ergonomically contoured handle is constructed from hornbeam wood and finished with Strawberry lacquer. An added benefit of the handle is its adaptability for customization: users can carve, texture, or stain it to their preference. The wooden design also permits drilling a hole at the end of the handle for attaching a lanyard or security cord.

Opinel is a French knife brand whose history dates back to 1890 in Savoy. The founder, Joseph Opinel, created the first folding knife, No. 08, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the Virobloc locking system was introduced, later modernized, which is still the hallmark of the brand today. In 1985, Opinel was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum as one of the 100 best-designed objects in the world, and the brand's knives also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production takes place in Chambery, with an emphasis on quality and ecology - the wood comes from French forests and the waste is used to heat the factory. Among the famous users was Pablo Picasso, who used Opinel for carving, and the knives themselves have become a symbol of simplicity, durability, and the French lifestyle.

    A timeless classic with French origins. The handle is in the only correct color, purple. Perfect for mushroom picking. The steel is nothing special, but at least you can sharpen it even with a river stone. Truly a proper tool in the right place. I recommend it.
