On my first shooting at 25 meters, I achieved a 15mm grouping. The accuracy of this air rifle is really impressive, and the joy of shooting goes to a whole new level. Walther Rotex RM8 Varmint Carbine showcases a modern design, featuring a stock constructed from robust synthetic material. Operating as a PCP (pre-charged pneumatic) carbine, it utilizes compressed air and is equipped with an 8-shot magazine for diabolo pellets.

A source of compressed air is essential to refill PCP air rifles:
- either a cylinder, which can be filled using a PCP charging set,
- or a manual pump can be employed for refilling.
The advantage of PCP (Precharged Pneumatics) airguns compared to spring-powered models is evident in the absence of recoil produced by the movement of a spring-driven piston within the cylinder. The movement of internal components, each weighing less than 10 g, is imperceptible both to the shooter and a rifle weighing over 3 kg. As a result, PCP rifles not only permit the use of softer trigger pull, but also support the installation of higher magnification optical sights—allowing the shooter to rest the rifle in their hands during firing without the risk of gun movement.
A prominently raised cheekpiece ensures comfortable use with various optical sights. The stock is finished with a ventilated rubber pad that fits securely in the shoulder pocket. A slender pistol grip provides a firm hold on the carbine and straightforward access to the safety. The Thumbhole style stock is ambidextrous, making the air rifle equally comfortable for left- and right-handed users.
A threaded barrel made by the renowned German manufacturer Lothar-Walther is included. The specialized taper at the muzzle is engineered to enhance precision.
Fitted with a 200cc steel air cylinder, the system accepts compressed air up to a pressure of 232 BAR. Once fully charged, approximately 180 shots can be fired at consistent muzzle velocity. Depending on projectile type, initial velocities approximate 180 m/s. The tank is recharged using the supplied quick-connect coupling, which attaches to the cylinder hose.
Although iron sights are not present, an 11mm standard mount rail enables fitting of an optical sight.
Included is an aluminum magazine capable of holding 8 pellets in 4.5mm caliber. During each four-barrel reloading action, the magazine rotates to index the next round.

The carbine has no competition in its price range, I have owned the Varmint .22 for some time and apart from occasionally cutting the rubber band in the magazine, I have had no problems with it. Great carbine. At 40m, it groups within the diameter of a 1 grosz coin.

Excellent PCP at a fantastic price. You just need to buy an Umarex silencer, a Walther bipod, and a good scope, like the Valiant. I have 3 Rotexes: 1 - 4.5mm beech, 2 - 4.5 Varmint, and 3 - 5.5 Varmint - I know what I'm talking about! Highly recommended.
