Boker Plus Kwaiken Mini Flipper Titan D2 Folding Knife

Folding EDC knife (Everyday Carry) designed by American knifemaker Lucas Burnley. The blade with a Straight Back profile is made from D2 steel, known for its high wear resistance, and satin-finished. The handle is made of titanium, and the blade in the open position is locked with a liner lock.

D2 tool steel

The blade is made from D2 tool steel, valued for its high cutting aggressiveness and good wear resistance. With proper heat treatment, it achieves a hardness level of 57–62 HRC, ensuring long-lasting sharpness even with heavy use. Although D2 steel is not fully stainless, its corrosion resistance is adequate for everyday use.

Slim blade with a Straight Back profile

The slim blade with a Straight Back profile measures 78 mm in length and 3.2 mm in thickness, and its smooth cutting edge is flat-ground. This geometry provides good cutting control and is well-suited for precision tasks. The blade is satin-finished, giving it a semi-matte surface, enhancing aesthetics, and reducing the visibility of minor scratches from use.

Titanium handle scales, tip-up clip

The handle scales are made from titanium with an anti-slip texture, ensuring a secure and stable grip. When the blade is opened, the flipper acts as a small, single-sided cross guard, reducing the risk of the hand slipping onto the blade. Everyday carry is facilitated by a springy, steel tip-up clip, allowing the knife to be attached to a belt or pocket edge. There is a lanyard hole at the end of the handle.

Flipper opening, Liner Lock

The knife is opened using a small flipper, which, combined with ball bearings in the main axis, allows for smooth and convenient one-handed blade deployment. In the open position, the blade is secured with a Liner Lock, known for its strong and stable performance.

D2 feature
D2
D2 is a high-carbon tool steel classified as semi-stainless, characterized by high wear resistance and the ability to maintain a thin, durable edge. It achieves a hardness of 57-62 HRC, which ensures long-lasting sharpness even with intensive use. Its chemical composition is a precisely selected combination of elements: carbon (1.4-1.6%), chromium (11-13%), molybdenum (up to 0.8%), vanadium (up to 1%), manganese (up to 1%), and silicon (up to 1%). The high carbon and chromium content ensures hardness and wear resistance, while molybdenum and vanadium improve the strength and durability of the cutting edge. Although D2 steel is not completely stainless, its corrosion resistance is sufficient to meet the requirements of most conditions of use. It is widely used in the production of mid-range and high-end knives, including handmade knives and cutting tools.
Titanium feature
Titanium
Titanium is a lightweight, extremely durable metal widely used in knife manufacturing, especially in handles, locks, and structural elements. It is characterized by a very high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent corrosion resistance, even in contact with salt water. Titanium is slightly more difficult to machine than steel or aluminum, but it can be anodized to produce durable and attractive surfaces in a variety of colors. This material is also hypoallergenic, does not conduct heat as intensely as steel, and is not magnetized. Due to its strength, chemical resistance, and relatively low weight, titanium is used in tactical knives, EDC knives, and premium models designed for intensive use.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.

The knife is solidly made with a blade made of good steel. Its biggest advantage is its size and the ability to carry it every day without attracting attention. The flipper works well, and a decent sheath is included with the knife.
