Cold Steel AD-10 Lite AUS-10A Folding Knife - Black

The wide blade with Drop-Point profile was made of Japanese AUS-10A stainless steel, which is characterized by high resistance to mechanical damage, holds sharpness well, and is easy to resharpen. The blade was brought out with a high flat grind, which provides very good cutting properties. The blade was finished with a satin finish, giving a semi-matte effect. On the back of the blade, where the thumb rests, there is a jimping (notching) that makes it easier to control the blade while working.

GFN liners, steel clip

Ergonomically contoured handle liners are made of GFN laminate, or fiberglass-reinforced nylon, which is characterized by resistance to mechanical damage and external factors. The non-slip texture provides a secure and stable grip during use. At the end of the handle there is a lanyard hole that allows you to weave a safety line through it.

Everyday comfortable carrying is ensured by a springy steel clip in tip-up position for easy attachment of the knife to a belt or to the edge of a pocket. The clip can be mounted on either the right or left side.

Double-sided stud, Tri-Ad Lock

A double-sided stud is mounted on the blade, which allows the knife to be opened comfortably with both right and left hands. In the open position, the blade is locked with the Tri-Ad Lock, which ensures safety when using the knife. This is one of the most stable and durable locks that can be used in a folding knife.

AUS-10 is a high-quality stainless steel produced by the Japanese company Aichi Steel, considered one of the best in the AUS steel series, used mainly in mid-range and high-end utility knives, produced mainly in Japan and Taiwan. The carbon content (0.95-1.1%) ensures high hardness, while chromium (13-14.5%) guarantees very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. The steel also contains manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), phosphorus (up to 0.025%), and sulfur (up to 0.025%), which affect hardenability, impact strength, elasticity, and machinability, improving structural stability and maintaining mechanical properties. After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, offering an excellent balance between strength, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. It is comparable to 440C steel, differing in carbon content and the addition of vanadium, which improves structural homogeneity and increases abrasion resistance.

Tri-Ad Lock is a lock developed by Cold Steel and Andrew Demko, considered one of the strongest systems in folding knives. Its key element is a stop pin, which takes the pressure from the blade and distributes it to the handle, protecting the lock from wear and overload. The mechanism is designed to self-adjust over time, which maintains the reliability of the lock even after prolonged use. In tests, it has proven resistant to loads of up to hundreds of pounds, confirming its durability.

Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish.     It has only one flaw - the price. Apart from that, it's all advantages, a piece of solid and stylishly looking knife. It operates smoothly, drops nicely after releasing the lock, and there's no fear that the blade will hit your fingers. I liked it so much that I picked up a second one with a classic blade at an auction because the new one was no longer available here.

    Great knife with a very strong lock, it looks even better in person. Since I bought it, it has become my favorite EDC. Very well sharpened—right out of the box, the knife shaves hair. My second piece from Cold Steel and again 100% satisfaction. In the photo it's compared with the Spartan.

    The knife is excellent in every way. The craftsmanship is at a high level. It fits perfectly in the hand and the weight is just right because you can feel you're holding a tool suitable for heavy outdoor work. The Tri-Ad Lock is a revelation. My piece has no flaws.     I got really angry at Militaria.pl after opening the package, because a terrible smell filled the whole house—but after a moment, I realized it was the smell of top quality. The knife is wonderfully made, every part fits as it should, everything works as it should. When the Tri-Ad Lock clicks into place on this knife, neighbors come by to check if everything's all right because they heard an explosion. I've dealt with many knives in different price ranges, but this one is a tank in your pocket.

    The amazing quality of the AD10 knife—I bought my first knife and it was supposed to be for everything, but I didn't expect to get so interested that I'd start collecting these types of items. Now I'm already thinking of buying another one soon and it will definitely be Cold Steel again. But the AD10 will always be my first and perhaps my best knife. I recommend it 100 percent!!!
