Cold Steel AD-15 Lite Folding knife AUS-10A

EDC (Everyday Carry) style folding knife, crafted as a budget-friendly alternative to the AD-15 model. Equipped with a Drop-Point blade manufactured from AUS-10A stainless steel, it also features a black handle made from Griv-Ex material, along with the innovative Scorpion Lock mechanism designed by Andrew Demko.

AUS-10A Steel

Featuring a wide blade crafted with a Drop-Point profile, the knife utilizes Japanese AUS-10A stainless steel, recognized for its impressive resistance to mechanical wear, excellent edge retention, and straightforward re-sharpening process. The blade is enhanced with a satin finish.

handle with Griv-Ex scales

A hybrid handle engineered on a steel frame, featuring Griv-Ex scales with a non-slip surface for added security. Incorporated in the handle is an anodized aluminum yoke combined with the backspacer and locking mechanism spring. Ergonomically contoured for a firm hold, the handle is also equipped with a hole for attaching a lanyard or keychain at the rear.

Scorpion Lock

The Scorpion Lock, crafted by Andrew Demko, operates with a spring-activated yoke running along the handle’s axis. As the knife is opened, the yoke is raised, allowing a pin housed within it to settle into a notch on the blade, securing the blade in the open position. This system takes advantage of both spring force and the grip pressure from the user’s hand. To disengage the lock, the yoke must be lifted while the blade is gently shifted.

Steel clip

Reliable daily carry is facilitated by a spring-loaded, steel clip, which may be attached in the tip-up orientation on either the right or left side.

AUS-10 feature
AUS-10
AUS-10 is a high-quality stainless steel produced by the Japanese company Aichi Steel, considered one of the best in the AUS steel series, used mainly in mid-range and high-end utility knives, produced mainly in Japan and Taiwan. The carbon content (0.95-1.1%) ensures high hardness, while chromium (13-14.5%) guarantees very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. The steel also contains manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), phosphorus (up to 0.025%), and sulfur (up to 0.025%), which affect hardenability, impact strength, elasticity, and machinability, improving structural stability and maintaining mechanical properties. After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, offering an excellent balance between strength, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. It is comparable to 440C steel, differing in carbon content and the addition of vanadium, which improves structural homogeneity and increases abrasion resistance.
Scorpion Lock feature
Scorpion Lock
Scorpion Lock is a folding knife lock developed by Andrew Demko for Cold Steel. It uses a lever on the back of the handle to lock the blade in the open position and allow for safe one-handed closing. The design automatically adjusts to wear, ensuring high durability and stability even under heavy loads.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
Griv-Ex feature
Griv-Ex
Griv-Ex is a durable glass-nylon composite reinforced with fiberglass used by Cold Steel, mainly for the production of knife handles, and in some models also for blade components. The material has a textured surface on the handles, which ensures a secure, non-slip grip, and its maintenance usually boils down to simple washing under running water. Griv-Ex is distinguished by its resistance to moisture, corrosion, mechanical damage, and extreme temperatures, and does not warp or crack under harsh conditions. When used in the construction of blades, it is additionally stabilized by UV rays and heat, which further increases its durability.

The knife is fantastic! Small, handy, and sharp! At first, I didn't know how to fold the knife, but I managed! I highly recommend it!

CS with a very interesting lock by Andrew Demko (just like in his customs). The clip isn't too tight, it's just right and not at all like typical Cold Steel. I recommend it!
