Cold Steel Double Safe Hunter Camo Metal Clip Folding knife 8Cr13MoV

Folding EDC Knife (Every Day Carry) from the Hunter series, inspired by the renowned Voyager model. Features a Clip-Point profile blade crafted from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel. The blade’s surface is treated with the satining technique, resulting in an attractive semi-matte finish. A double-sided thumb stud ensures smooth blade deployment. The Back Lock reliably secures the blade when in use, with an added sliding lock for increased safety. The ergonomic handle sports a Real Camo camouflage pattern and is constructed from robust glass-filled nylon (GFN), delivering a secure, non-slip hold. Easy, everyday portability is guaranteed thanks to a durable spring clip.

8Cr13MoV stainless steel

Crafted from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, the blade offers an ideal combination of edge retention, resistance to corrosion, and straightforward upkeep. Through heat treatment, it reaches a hardness level of 57-58 HRC, guaranteeing reliable cutting performance even during heavy-duty use.

Clip-Point Profile Blade, Satining Finish

Equipped with a Clip-Point profile, the blade measures 76.2 mm in length and 3 mm in thickness. A high grind creates a smooth cutting surface for precise performance. Finished using the satining method, the blade boasts a semi-matte appearance, combining visual appeal with enhanced resistance to scratches. Blade geometry ensures excellent cutting capabilities while preserving impressive overall strength.

Durable Handle with GFN

Constructed from rugged glass-filled nylon (GFN), the handle scales offer both ergonomic contours and a textured, non-slip surface for a secure and reliable hold. Enhanced tool control is provided by a pronounced finger groove, ensuring safe handling even when hands are wet or soiled. The handle is equipped with a spring clip for everyday carry, enabling the knife to be conveniently attached to a belt or gear. Designed for ambidextrous use, the clip is reversible and can be positioned for either right- or left-handed users. An integrated lanyard hole at the end of the handle allows the attachment of a safety cord or leash.

Back Lock with Additional Safety

The blade is secured in the open position using the classic Back Lock system. For added protection, a sliding lock also secures the blade when closed, ensuring safe transport of the knife. A double-sided thumb stud on the blade enables rapid one-handed deployment.

8Cr13MoV (8Cr13) feature
8Cr13MoV (8Cr13)
8Cr13MoV (8Cr13) is a Chinese stainless steel equivalent to Japanese AUS-8 steel. It offers a good balance between corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and edge retention. The carbon content (approximately 0.8%) affects the hardness of the steel, while chromium (13%) provides very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. Additions of molybdenum (0.3%), vanadium (up to 0.2%), manganese (0.5%), and silicon (0.4%) improve abrasion resistance and the stability of the steel structure. 8Cr13MoV is often used in the production of knives, including by companies such as Spyderco and Benchmade, which manufacture in China. After proper heat treatment, 8Cr13MoV steel achieves a hardness of 56-58 HRC, which makes it a material with good cutting properties, easy to sharpen, and relatively resistant to wear.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
GFN - Glass Filled Nylon feature
GFN - Glass Filled Nylon

GFN (Glass Filled Nylon) is a nylon reinforced with glass fiber, offering low weight, high durability, and resistance to moisture and many chemicals. The material performs exceptionally well in demanding conditions, maintaining its strength even under intensive use. GFN surfaces may be completely smooth or textured to improve grip, providing better control and overall ergonomics. The robustness of GFN handles has made this material a standard in the production of EDC (Everyday Carry) knives as well as lightweight tactical designs.

On a daily basis, I use a much heavier folder, the SR1 Lite, also from CS, so I had to get used to the Hunter. At first, because of the lighter weight and thinner design, it seemed delicate, but after a while I could already tell it’s another solid knife from Cold Steel. Very sharp, and the double locking mechanism gives a complete sense of security. When folded, it doesn’t bother you in your pocket and its weight is hardly noticeable, unlike the SR1, which pulls your pants down.

The steel could be a little better, but it's still standard Cold Steel—tough as hell, with great handle ergonomics.

A very proper design. Cheap and solid construction that allows you to be convinced of Cold Steel knives. Great for EDC, very durable, and its eye-catching colors make it hard to lose. Only advantages for relatively little money. I recommend it!
