420 is a martensitic stainless steel often used in cutlery, especially in kitchen knives, EDC, and budget outdoor models. It is characterized by a relatively low carbon content (0.16-0.25%), which allows for a hardness range of 54-57 HRC, ensuring easy sharpening and resistance to chipping.
