Cold Steel Tanto Lite 4116 Knife

Tactical knife featuring Full Tang construction. Equipped with a blade in a Tanto profile crafted from 4116 stainless steel, it offers excellent corrosion resistance and maintains sharpness effectively. A satin finish adds to its visual appeal. The handle, made of black, non-slip Kray-Ex material, provides a secure and reliable grip. For safe and convenient transport on a belt or gear, the knife comes with a Secure-Ex sheath.

Cryogenically treated 4116 steel

Forged from German 4116 stainless steel, the blade offers excellent resistance to corrosion and maintains a sharp edge over time. Enhanced by a cryogenic treatment, the material's toughness and structural performance are significantly improved. With a post-hardening rating of 55–57 HRC, the blade boasts impressive wear resistance while remaining easy to sharpen and upkeep.

Blade with Tanto profile, satin finish

Designed with a Tanto profile, the blade measures 152.4 mm in length and 4 mm in thickness. A Flat Grind ensures a smooth cutting edge. The blade’s shape delivers excellent penetration capabilities while retaining sufficient robustness for demanding tasks. Enhanced by a satin finish, the blade boasts a semi-matte appearance, improving its visual appeal and offering greater resistance to scratches during operation.

Handle with Kray-Ex with a non-slip texture

Constructed from robust Kray-Ex material, the handle offers high resistance to mechanical damage. The non-slip surface guarantees a secure and controlled hold in all conditions. The inclusion of a single-sided cross guard provides extra protection, preventing fingers from sliding onto the blade.

Secure-Ex sheath

Equipped with a sheath crafted from a lightweight, rugged, and weather-resistant material, the knife utilizes the Secure-Ex system for superior protection. The sheath’s streamlined profile ensures discreet pocket carry, while the integral loop enables secure attachment to a belt or additional gear.

Secure-Ex feature
Secure-Ex
Secure-Ex is a system developed by Cold Steel, designed for the safe storage and convenient carrying of knives and tools. Sheaths made with this technology are lightweight, durable, and weather-resistant, making them suitable even for intensive use. They hold the knife securely in the sheath while allowing for quick and smooth draw. The system has a modular design - the sheaths can be supplemented with various fasteners, such as buckles, clips (e.g., C-Clip) or ball chains. This allows the knife to be worn on a belt, around the neck, or in other configurations, according to the user's preferences.
Kray-Ex feature
Kray-Ex
Kray-Ex is a synthetic polymer with a rubber-like structure used by Cold Steel to manufacture knife handles. It is characterized by high adhesion and anti-slip properties, ensuring a secure grip even in high humidity, low temperatures, and with dirty hands. The material is flexible and absorbs shocks well, which increases comfort of use. Kray-Ex is also resistant to cracking, abrasion, chemicals, and adverse weather conditions, making handles made of this material durable and virtually maintenance-free. Cold Steel uses it in tactical, survival, and utility knives.
4116SS feature
4116SS
4116SS steel is the commercial name for high-quality 1.4116 stainless steel from the German DIN group, widely used in kitchen knives and medical tools. The carbon content (0.45-0.55%) ensures good hardness and edge durability, while chromium (14-15%) guarantees high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The steel also contains molybdenum (up to 0.6%), vanadium (up to 0.2%), manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), and a small amount of nickel (up to 1%). It achieves a hardness of 55-57 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for knives with good cutting properties, easy maintenance, and corrosion resistance.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.

A very nice, sleek knife, arrives sharp, cuts paper and shaves, cold steel really IS something even if it’s a typical budget model. I prefer cheap knives because I often lose them or leave them somewhere. Nicely and solidly made, confident grip thanks to the rubber texture, long and thick enough so it won’t fail from a simple hit, and a nice sheath that, for now, holds tight, securely, and doesn’t rattle.
