Cold Steel Warcraft Tanto Regular San Mai III Fixed Blade Knife

Fixed blade knife with a 190 mm blade length and a Tanto style made from laminated San Mai III stainless steel. Ergonomic handle features scales crafted from tough glass-epoxy G10 and provides a secure, textured grip. Set is supplied with a Secure-Ex sheath system equipped with holes and grommets for multi-position attachment to a belt or gear.

Laminated San Mai III stainless steel

The Warcraft model is equipped with a blade crafted from laminated San Mai III stainless steel, renowned for superior edge retention and exceptional resistance to both stress and fractures. A high hardness steel core delivers reliable edge retention, while outer layers of softer steel provide increased flexibility and superior resistance to potential damage.

Tanto profile blade, satin finish

Featuring a 190 mm long Tanto profile blade with a 5 mm thickness, this blade is crafted with a subtle hollow grind that strikes an optimal balance between resilience and effective cutting performance. Material thickness and precise blade geometry deliver outstanding durability, making it capable of handling tough materials. Finished using a satin technique, the blade displays a consistent linear grain that minimizes surface glare and helps mask minor scratches acquired during use.

Full Tang construction, G10 scales

An ergonomically shaped handle utilizing Full Tang construction is fitted with G10 scales crafted from a glass-epoxy laminate, renowned for their outstanding durability against mechanical impacts and environmental conditions. The handle's non-slip surface guarantees a firm and reliable hold during operation. A lanyard hole at the handle's base enables secure attachment of a safety cord. A modest single-sided cross guard ensures unobstructed use while the finger choil and guard together deliver solid hand protection, even when applying significant force. Strategically positioned jimping (serrated section) on the spine provides enhanced thumb traction, allowing for optimal blade control during demanding tasks.

Secure-Ex sheath

Constructed in the Secure-Ex system, the sheath utilizes material engineered to withstand harsh external conditions. A precisely contoured opening and a snap-secured loop firmly retain the knife, minimizing the chance of accidental loss. The loop also facilitates attachment to belts, while multiple holes and grommets provide options for multi-position mounting to additional gear components.

Secure-Ex feature
Secure-Ex
Secure-Ex is a system developed by Cold Steel, designed for the safe storage and convenient carrying of knives and tools. Sheaths made with this technology are lightweight, durable, and weather-resistant, making them suitable even for intensive use. They hold the knife securely in the sheath while allowing for quick and smooth draw. The system has a modular design - the sheaths can be supplemented with various fasteners, such as buckles, clips (e.g., C-Clip) or ball chains. This allows the knife to be worn on a belt, around the neck, or in other configurations, according to the user's preferences.
San Mai feature
San Mai
San Mai (ja. "three layers") is a three-layer steel laminate developed by Cold Steel, combining a hard, high-carbon core with outer layers of stainless steel that offer high flexibility and corrosion resistance. The outer layers protect the core from damage, increase the blade's impact resistance, and facilitate maintenance. Depending on the generation, Cold Steel has used different core steels: VG-1 (San Mai III), containing 0.95-1.05% carbon and 13-15% chromium, characterized by good edge retention and rust resistance, and VG-10, enriched with molybdenum (0.9-1.2%) and vanadium (0.2-0.3%), which improves hardness, abrasion resistance, and edge retention. After proper heat treatment, the core reaches a hardness of 59-61 HRC. Products with a VG-1 San Mai core are manufactured in Japan in limited editions and are used in Cold Steel's most exclusive collector's fixed knives. VG-10 San Mai is produced in small series and is used exclusively in top-of-the-line collector's knives. San Mai is a registered trademark of Cold Steel.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
