Helikon-Tex Recon Smock DuraCanvas Heavy Jacket - Coyote
A parka jacket in Coyote based on the classic military smock design - an extended outer layer with a looser fit and an extensive pocket layout, used among others by SAS units in the British Army. It was designed for carrying first-line equipment without the need to place it entirely on a belt. It is made from durable DuraCanvas Heavy fabric.
The densely woven fabric provides wind resistance and is suitable for wax waterproofing. The model is equipped with 11 pockets, underarm ventilation zippers, durable YKK zippers and an adjustable hood, cuffs and bottom edge. Elbow reinforcements increase the durability of these areas during intensive use.
durable DuraCanvas Heavy fabric
The jacket is made of DuraCanvas Heavy fabric composed of 65% polyester and 35% cotton, with a grammage of 225 g/m2. The densely woven, reinforced structure is adapted for intensive field use. The fabric provides wind resistance and can be wax waterproofed.
11 practical pockets
The model is equipped with 11 pockets placed on the front, sleeves, sides and back. This layout makes it possible to distribute equipment across different parts of the torso and carry some gear directly on the jacket instead of placing it entirely on a belt. Selected pockets feature loops for attaching small items with cord, which helps protect them from being lost.
4 spacious front pockets, closed with storm flaps and Canadian buttons, are intended for larger pieces of equipment. 2 flat chest pockets fastened with zippers provide quick access to maps, a notebook, a prismatic compass, documents and small items. The shoulder pockets can be expanded to hold additional equipment.
2 side pockets at waist height can hold a canteen, radio or first-aid kit. They were also designed for warming the hands. At the back there is a large pocket for soft equipment such as a poncho or a lightweight insulating jacket. Zippers placed on both sides allow access to its interior from the right or left side without taking the jacket off, while a mesh layer on the back supports airflow.
Zipper and button placket
The main closure consists of a zipper and a covering placket fastened with Canadian buttons. The zipper allows the jacket to be fastened quickly, while the additional buttons help cover the closure line. In warmer conditions, the front can be fastened with the buttons alone, leaving more space for airflow.
underarm ventilation zippers
Long ventilation zippers placed under the arms allow you to regulate airflow depending on the intensity of exertion and the conditions of use. Opening them helps release excess heat during marching or intensive work, while closing them reduces drafts in cooler conditions.
adjustable hood and velcro panels
The spacious hood is equipped with a triple adjustment system that allows its position and volume to be adjusted to the head and the conditions of use. Thanks to the adjustment, the hood can be stabilised better during movement and its slipping or excessive shifting can be reduced. The jacket sleeves feature velcro panels for attaching emblems or patches.
Sleeve adjustment and reinforcements
Multi-point circumference adjustment and bottom edge adjustment allow the jacket to be fitted to the body shape and the layers worn underneath. Tightening these areas helps reduce drafts and stabilise the jacket during movement.
Velcro-adjustable cuffs allow the width of the sleeves to be adjusted and fitted to the wrists or gloves being worn. Elbow reinforcements increase their durability during field use.
