Great fire starter, although it's a bit smaller than I expected, it works very well and gives a strong spark. However, I think that for this price you can find something better in terms of quality. It's good to rest a knife and slide it along the rod, because it's easier to hit that way.

Durable and compact ferrocerium flint with a long service life reaching several thousand uses. With the flint, you can light, for example, a gas stove, a camping stove, or a campfire, which is a source of heat and makes it possible to prepare a meal away from home. It will work very well not only during camping trips, but also in emergency situations.
The ferrocerium flint works by vigorously scraping the flint rod with the sharp edge of the striker. In this way, the cerium contained in the rod oxidizes and self-ignites. One stroke with the striker allows sparks with a temperature of 3000°C to be produced, which, when falling onto previously prepared tinder, will create a flame even during severe frost or heavy rain.
The flint is perfect for any camping trip. Thanks to its compact size, it will fit in a pants pocket or in a backpack.

No problem producing sparks. The biggest advantage is the length – but not the entire surface is usable – the lanyard is at such a height that it always gets in the way and effectively shortens the usable length of the fire starter (even if you get rid of it, the hole remains).

I am disappointed with the Hultafors fire starter. During use, it turned out to be exceptionally fragile. It fell from a small height onto a stone and broke at the spot where the mounting is drilled out. This type of equipment should be more durable, especially considering it is intended for use in tough outdoor conditions. Unfortunately, the Hultafors fire starter did not meet my expectations for durability and reliability. I do not recommend this product to anyone looking for a robust and durable tool for starting fires.
