The machete was designed in collaboration with Ethan Becker and the Estate of Hank Reinhardt. The original Kukri is used by members of the Gurkha tribe, who have been using such knives for over 150 years in service of the British Empire.

The blade, with a thickness of 4.8 mm, is made from a single piece of 1095 Cro-Van steel with a hardness of 56-58 HRC, optimal for knives used in field conditions. To protect against corrosion and reflections, the blade is coated with a black, matte layer of paint applied using a powder method.

The kukri type blade is ideal for heavy-duty tasks in the field, such as cutting bushes, branches, and grass. The appropriate blade thickness and forward weight distribution significantly facilitate work.

The handle, with a shape known from other knives in the Becker series, is made from the patented Ultramid material by BASF in black. A cross guard shape at the lower handle section prevents the hand from slipping onto the blade. An opening at the end allows for the attachment of a lanyard.

The set includes a polyester sheath reinforced with rigid plastic. It fits belts up to 75 mm wide.

Ka-Bar is a brand whose history dates back to the late 19th century, and it gained real fame during World War II, when the Fighting Utility model was officially adopted by the US Marine Corps. This durable and versatile knife quickly became a legend, proving itself both in combat and in the everyday tasks of soldiers. The name Ka-Bar itself comes from the 1920s, when a trapper described in a letter how he managed to "kill a bear" with a Union Cutlery knife. In 1952, wanting to emphasize the strength of this symbol, the company officially changed its name to Ka-Bar Knives Inc., and its products are still regarded as a benchmark of reliability. An important chapter in the brand's history is also its cooperation with Ethan Becker, which resulted in the Becker series appreciated by users, combining practical solutions with a modern approach to knife design.

This is my first kukri. It is more of a modern version and quite different from the original, but still worth buying. It slices, chops, and cuts. With a bit of practice, you can do more precise work with it. In my own words, I would describe the BK21 as a big, heavy, and very durable knife shaped like a kukri. I am very satisfied.
