Ka-Bar Combat Bowie BK9 Fixed Blade Knife

Knife with a total length of 375 mm and a blade with a length of 235 mm and Clip-Point profile made of 1095 Cro-Van tool steel. The edge is crafted with a flat grind. The blade is coated with a black matte finish to protect against corrosion and reduce glare. The handle scales are made of damage-resistant Ultramid in black. The set includes a sheath made of damage-resistant polyester with a kydex insert.

This model was developed in collaboration with Ethan Becker. Ka-Bar has been manufacturing this collection since 2009.

1095 Cro-Van tool steel

1095 Cro-Van tool steel is distinguished by its high resistance to chipping, making it well-suited for knives intended for heavier fieldwork. The addition of chromium and vanadium improves hardenability, edge retention, and wear resistance compared to classic 1095 steel. This material is easy to resharpen and, with regular maintenance, ensures very good durability in use.

blade with Clip-Point profile, flat grind

Blade with a length of 235 mm and thickness of 4.9 mm, with a Clip-Point profile designed for precise tasks. This profile is particularly effective in outdoor and EDC applications, where a combination of high piercing ability and optimal control over the blade is required. Jimping on the spine allows for a secure thumb grip, enhancing safety and precision during fieldwork.

The model features a flat grind, providing increased resistance to damage while maintaining good cutting properties. The surface of the blade is covered with a black matte finish that eliminates light reflections and protects the steel from external factors.

Handle scales made from Ultramid

The handle scales are made from Ultramid, a durable structural polyamide resistant to impact, abrasion, and changing field conditions. The material ensures a rigid, stable grip construction, and the handle's profiling enhances knife control during intensive work. Additionally, the handle is equipped with a steel cross guard to protect the hand from slipping onto the blade.

Plastic sheath

The set includes a sheath made from durable polyester, internally reinforced with Kydex for added stability. The design allows for secure attachment to a belt or gear, making it suitable for field and tactical applications.

Militaria.pl is a premium dealer of Ka-Bar.

Ka-Bar is a brand whose history dates back to the late 19th century, and which gained real fame during World War II, when the Fighting Utility model was officially adopted by the US Marine Corps. The durable and versatile knife quickly became legendary, proving itself both in combat and in the daily tasks of soldiers. The name Ka-Bar itself comes from the 1920s, when a trapper described in a letter how he managed to “kill a bear” with a Union Cutlery knife. In 1952, wanting to emphasize the power of this symbol, the company officially changed its name to Ka-Bar Knives Inc., and its products are still considered a model of reliability today. An important chapter in the brand's history is also its collaboration with Ethan Becker, which resulted in the Becker series, highly valued by users, combining practical solutions with a modern approach to knife design.

1095 Cro-Van feature
1095 Cro-Van
1095 Cro-Van steel is an improved version of classic 1095 steel, with increased wear resistance and improved edge durability. Its carbon content of 0.95-1.1% gives it high hardness (58-60 HRC), making it ideal for the production of survival, tactical, and outdoor knives. The steel also contains chromium (0.4-0.6%), molybdenum (up to 0.06%), vanadium (0.15-0.25%), manganese (0.3-0.5%), and silicon (0.15-0.25%), which contribute to its abrasion resistance and improved edge stability. Although it has low corrosion resistance, it requires proper maintenance in humid environments. Thanks to its optimal combination of hardness, blade durability, and moderate corrosion resistance, it is a popular choice among enthusiasts of knives for intensive use.
Kydex feature
Kydex
Kydex is a thermoplastic, durable material commonly used in the production of knife sheaths. It is resistant to impact, scratches, and changing weather conditions, and has very low moisture absorption. The sheaths are molded directly onto the knife, which guarantees a perfect fit, high durability, and complete safety—the blade remains securely in place even during dynamic movements. Due to its durability and customization options, Kydex has gained popularity in the tactical and survival industries. Sheaths are often equipped with additional mounting holes with metal eyelets, which increase their durability and allow for easy attachment of buckles, clips, or loops to a belt or harness.
Ultramid feature
Ultramid
Knives with handles made of Ultramid are lightweight, highly durable, and dimensionally stable even under intensive use. This polyamide from BASF is resistant to impact, abrasion, chemicals, and temperature fluctuations. Available in versions modified with glass fiber, carbon fiber, or mineral additives, it provides even greater rigidity and heat resistance. Thanks to its injection molding and machining capabilities, it allows for the precise manufacture of handles with a secure grip, durable fastening of metal elements, and an aesthetic finish.

Let me share my first impression of using this knife! The knife is really for bushcraft, with a large, heavy blade. It’s suitable for chopping small trees and sharpening them for stakes, as well as preparing small logs for a campfire! After three trips and using it for all these purposes, it holds its edge and can cut both meat and vegetables! But there are some issues with its coating!!! When used, the strikes didn’t land on the top part of the knife, but for some reason, the coating chipped there!
