The TDI/Hinderer "Hell Fire" knife represents a collaboration between Rick Hinderer, a prominent American knifemaker and proprietor of Hinderer Knives, and John Benner, founder of the Tactical Defense Institute. Benner brings extensive real-world expertise as a former SWAT team leader, coordinator for the U.S. Drug Task Force, and medic, ensuring that the design is informed by hands-on tactical and combat experience.

Purpose-built by experts for professional use, the knife impresses with its light weight, compact dimensions, and outstanding edge retention. The TDI line was originally designed with American law enforcement in mind, and the handle mirrors a handgun grip to promote instinctive, secure control during high-stress situations that demand rapid response.

Featuring a modified Recurve Tanto blade profile, the knife uses a full tang design to maximize strength. Constructed from 1095 Cro-Van steel, well-regarded for its excellent resistance to heavy use, the blade receives a black anti-glare coating throughout, diminishing reflective surfaces and guarding against corrosion.

A handle crafted from tough Zytel material provides a textured anti-slip surface, affording a reliable grip in any environment. Each knife comes with a sturdy composite sheath equipped with a secure locking feature that prevents accidental release. Quick disengagement is possible by actuating the thumb lever positioned at the sheath’s edge.

A metal TDI Belt Clip enhances the sheath, enabling attachment both inside and outside the waistband. The modular mounting solution accommodates pals gear and allows the clip to be repositioned for left- or right-handed carry, tailoring the setup to user preferences.

Militaria.pl is a premium dealer of Ka-Bar.

Ka-Bar is a brand whose history dates back to the late 19th century, and which gained real fame during World War II, when the Fighting Utility model was officially adopted by the US Marine Corps. The durable and versatile knife quickly became legendary, proving itself both in combat and in the daily tasks of soldiers. The name Ka-Bar itself comes from the 1920s, when a trapper described in a letter how he managed to “kill a bear” with a Union Cutlery knife. In 1952, wanting to emphasize the power of this symbol, the company officially changed its name to Ka-Bar Knives Inc., and its products are still considered a model of reliability today. An important chapter in the brand's history is also its collaboration with Ethan Becker, which resulted in the Becker series, highly valued by users, combining practical solutions with a modern approach to knife design.

Very nice knife from the TDI series. Good ergonomics, steel, and workmanship. Unfortunately, I have to subtract 2 stars for the sheath. The standard TDI can be drawn with either hand, while the Hinderer version only with the hand that operates the lock. This is a big downside for a defensive knife.

A form for enthusiasts. Sharpening it is an interesting challenge, since recurve with a hollow grind is rare. Personally, I would prefer a different tip shape, but the warncliff version did not reach Polish distributors.

It fits very nicely in the hand. Nice steel. Shaves right out of the box. However, the sheath doesn't suit me at all—the knife is difficult to insert and it spreads the sheath apart in a strange way, and the clip only works vertically which limits how you can carry it.

    7) [Appearance] - the blade shape (although you can choose) is the most beautiful one. The cutting performance is outstanding—even a slightly dulled edge cuts like crazy. The tip is very strong and resistant to damage. In short, nothing but advantages, and so far, I haven't noticed any flaws.

    4) [Size] - just right, not too big and not too small, easy to handle, lightweight. 5) [Reliability] - one piece of good steel, the black coating is durable and does not wear off. 6) [Carrying] - the knife doesn’t provoke anyone, can be carried unnoticed, and the clip holds it securely. I personally wear it slightly towards the back under a sweater. That way the handle rests at kidney height and the blade lies flat in the holster on the hip. It's comfortable and doesn't poke, even when driving. (one more thing)

It's hard to describe this knife in one review. So to keep it brief, I'll list the points: 1) [Ka-Bar brand] - a legend and tradition, a knife made in the USA unlike even some expensive knives from China. 2) [Ergonomics] – your hand naturally finds the right grip, and it's impossible to drop, it holds very securely. 3) [Draw] – as befits a defensive knife, it's intuitive and lightning fast, unmatched, many tests on YouTube. (continued in the next review since there's a 500-character limit :) )
