Chain leg cuffs serve as protective gear predominantly utilized by law enforcement agencies, such as the Police and Border Guard, as well as in intervention scenarios that demand secure immobilization of individuals. Providing a reliable means of restricting a detainee’s leg movement, they help reduce the likelihood of escape and maintain effective control during transport or escort procedures. Designed with wide ankle openings, they comply with the specifications outlined by Polish uniformed services.

Manufactured entirely from stainless steel compliant with PN-EN 10088-1, the product utilizes a material that is non-toxic to the human body, highly resistant to mechanical damage, and does not trigger allergic reactions. No galvanic coatings such as nickel or zinc have been used in the handcuffs, guaranteeing adherence to EU Directive 76/769/EEC-94/27/EEC regarding products intended for skin contact, as well as anticipated national legislation.

The set features two ankle cuffs linked by a 45 cm chainmail-style chain, fastened to the cuff structure via rotating hinges. The ergonomic cuff construction is designed to minimize the risk of abrasions and injuries under proper use.

Crafted from steel components, the cuffs incorporate a double-locking mechanism and an adjustable ratchet arm. Each cuff integrates a ratchet lock that can be secured at any position to prevent over-tightening. Accidental opening protection is triggered by a pin integrated into the key. Enabling the lock requires pressing the pin, while turning the key disengages the mechanism.

Designed to withstand static force, the handcuffs maintain structural integrity under demanding conditions:

• breaking force: 1500 N – force applied within the plane of a single cuff while securing the other cuff. Once the applied force is released, full functionality of the handcuffs is preserved.
• bending force: 500 N – one cuff is fixed in a holder by the chain, with force exerted perpendicularly on the opposite end. No lasting deformation occurs under this force.

Kel-Met handcuffs are manufactured in accordance with the following standards:

• PN-EN 10088-1 – specification concerning the attributes of stainless steel, including its chemical makeup and mechanical properties.
• 76/769/EEC-94/27/EEC – European Union directive restricting the use of heavy metals, such as nickel, in items that come into contact with skin. The handcuffs are free from galvanic coatings, including nickel and zinc.
• KGP Standard – meets the standards set by the Polish National Police Headquarters for the design, safety, and operational performance of handcuffs.
