Softshell fabric garments often become water-absorbent due to use or dirt buildup. New or recently waterproofed softshell gear needs only cleaning to strengthen its durable water repellent (DWR) finish. For worn garments, DWR protection should be restored using Nikwax SoftShell Proof™ after initial cleaning with Nikwax Tech Wash®.
