Cool little knife for a start. Easy to open, nice lock, sharp. The orange color is really great because it's hard to lose in the forest. Perfect for sharpening sticks and learning knife safety. My son is very satisfied.
Opinel My First Knife No.7 INOX Folding Knife - Mandarin
A compact, ultra-lightweight folding knife featuring an 8 cm folding blade, a robust wooden handle, and a reliable Virobloc locking mechanism. Engineered for younger users, the My First Knife series offers a safe and functional tool for beginners.
INOX stainless steel, Clip-Point profile blade
Equipped with a Clip-Point blade made from INOX stainless steel, the knife features a semi-matte polished finish. Flat-ground nearly to a zero-grind, the blade’s minimal thickness delivers exceptional cutting efficiency. For enhanced operational safety, the tip is deliberately rounded to prevent accidental penetration of material.
Virobloc lock
The knife deploys by applying pressure to the blade with a fingernail. When fully opened, the blade is locked in place by the patented Virobloc locking mechanism, first introduced in 1955. Positioned as a steel ring at the blade's pivot point on the handle, the Virobloc must be rotated after the knife is open, covering the blade slot on the handle, which effectively prevents any blade movement. This locking ring also ensures secure closure, protecting against accidental blade deployment when the knife is folded.
Wooden handle
The knife handle is crafted from robust hornbeam wood. An ergonomic shape provides a secure grip, while another benefit of the handle lies in its adaptability for modifications, including drilling a lanyard hole, carving, or applying paint.

- Blade crafted from INOX stainless steel

Militaria.pl is a premium dealer of Opinel.
Opinel is a French knife brand whose history dates back to 1890 in Savoy. The founder, Joseph Opinel, created the first folding knife, No. 08, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the Virobloc locking system was introduced, later modernized, which is still the hallmark of the brand today. In 1985, Opinel was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum as one of the 100 best-designed objects in the world, and the brand's knives also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production takes place in Chambery, with an emphasis on quality and ecology - the wood comes from French forests and the waste is used to heat the factory. Among the famous users was Pablo Picasso, who used Opinel for carving, and the knives themselves have become a symbol of simplicity, durability, and the French lifestyle.

My five-year-old got it as his first tool for working in the forest. He is delighted, and mom also feels safe knowing he isn't using a machete :) For this price, it's an excellent tool that can be replaced with a more serious one after some time.

Bought for the little one, but it turned out that the cutout on the blade isn't that friendly for small hands. The lock also isn't a great solution and she often forgets about it. For now, it's fine for playing in the forest, but look around, maybe you'll find something better.

The perfect small knife for trips abroad where knives aren’t really legal; this model doesn’t have a sharp tip, so you don’t have problems with the police like you would with a knife that has a sharp tip.
-
Probably the only such knife on the market, folding with a round tip, which is its most important advantage. I always wanted this kind, because it's indispensable on trips where a sharp tip is not suitable for spreading, for jars, or soft delicate foods.

Great little knife for a child. Today was my first time hiking in the mountains and playing with sticks along the way made the whole trip a fantastic memory for the kids. The knife is very nicely made and 100% from natural materials (no plastic). I recommend it, and I'm ordering a second for my other child.

Another Opinel for my collection, and I bought it because I needed a pocketknife that I could use to scoop out the entire contents of a can, which is very difficult with those sharp-tipped ones. This is a specialized knife for canned foods.

Great knife, my daughter is happy because she got her first little knife. Sharp but still safe for a child.

Very sharp, well made. My son is satisfied.

Great quality, my nephew is happy. I recommend it.

Perfect for my 8-year-old son when he became its user it serves to this day.
-
Knife recommended for young users. In my case purchased for travel use. Perfect for spreading or safe use instead of a spoon with products of solid consistency. Perfect for cutting, safe tip even for an adult, considering all the 'razors' in our kits.

I bought it for collecting purposes, but I must admit it's great!

I chose it as my daughter's (7 years old) first knife. It's really sharp, we still use it in the kitchen, I haven't even sharpened it yet and it still does the job (1 year).
