The knife came packaged in the official Opinel blister. Quality is flawless, the wood is nicely finished; the Virobloc ring turns properly without excessive resistance. The blade is, of course, a dream, just like you expect from Opinel.

Opinel No.8 INOX Garden Folding Knife
A medium-sized, ultra-light folding knife featuring an 8 cm lockable blade. An iconic offering from a renowned French brand boasting over 100 years of craftsmanship. Equipped with a Spear-Point blade forged from stainless steel and finished with a semi-matte polish. The flat grind, nearly approaching a zero-grind, paired with minimal blade thickness, delivers superior cutting efficiency.
Simple and reliable Virobloc locking mechanism
In the open position, the blade is secured by a Virobloc lock, a mechanism patented in 1955. This steel ring is set into the handle at the blade’s pivot point. Once the knife is open, rotate the ring a few degrees to cover the slot in the handle, thereby locking the blade in place and preventing any movement. This mechanism also protects against accidental opening when the knife is folded. Opening the knife is made easy by a notch in the blade, reminiscent of Victorinox pocket knives.
Contoured handle made of beech wood
Beech wood is used for the handle, which has been shaped for optimal ergonomics, ensuring a reliable and comfortable grip even in challenging outdoor conditions. Another key benefit is the handle’s modifiability, allowing custom textures, carving, or staining in any preferred color.

Opinel is a French knife brand whose history dates back to 1890 in Savoy. The founder, Joseph Opinel, created the first folding knife, No. 08, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the Virobloc locking system was introduced, later modernized, which is still the hallmark of the brand today. In 1985, Opinel was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum as one of the 100 best-designed objects in the world, and the brand's knives also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production takes place in Chambery, with an emphasis on quality and ecology - the wood comes from French forests and the waste is used to heat the factory. Among the famous users was Pablo Picasso, who used Opinel for carving, and the knives themselves have become a symbol of simplicity, durability, and the French lifestyle.

Nice, modest and yet so beautiful. At the same time, a variation - a different shape than in classic Opinels. And a different blade - who knows, maybe even for some fiddly work this blade is more convenient for precise handling. In any case, I assure you it's not just for the garden - it can be used for everything, including gardening :)

The Opinel Garden has a nice and comfortable blade, the profile seems better than the classic, although that's subjective and open to hobbyist discussion :) The handle is comfortable, fits better in, for example, a sheath or cases. Anyway, it's worth having it just for variety alongside other Opinels you own :)

Small, nice and light knife. Just right for your pocket or drawer for quick use. It has come in handy many times in everyday use. An interesting idea for a gift. A knife is always useful.
-
Nice blade, different than the "standard" Opinel. My personal observation—the Garden handle fits and is easier to slip into small pocketknife cases because it’s thinner at the end.
-
Opinel No. 8 but with a different blade—maybe even a cooler one. It's an excuse to buy another one—because it's supposedly different :) This blade, subjectively, seems easier to control when doing fine work or preparing salads and sandwiches. The handle is nice although for large hands the classic is better.

Opinel. A classic you have to own. I know. I don’t need another pocket knife. But it’s still worth buying, even if it’s just going to sit in a drawer. It will come in handy someday.

Good price, light, comfortable, and sharp knife. Nice wood and good steel. The knife fits great in the hand, does not bother in the pocket and doesn't pull it down with its weight. For this price I really recommend it, perfect for a camping trip in the forest or garden.
-
An extremely cheap but excellent quality folding knife that works perfectly as, for example, a car knife for preparing food or other tasks, with a nice wooden handle.

Buy, don't ask, use. Very comfortable, fits well in the hand, very sharp, and you can also buy a set of spoon and fork dedicated to Opinel No. 08, both the classic and the garden version. I recommend it.

Very interesting version of the Opinel, different blade shape (garden version), but it's light and sharp, also a plus for the lanyard or paracord hole – no need to modify, price is attractive on sale. I recommend it.

Amazing! This is already my third knife from this company. I lost the first one in the mountains, the second was taken at airport security. I chose this one consciously – it's not classic. Lightweight and useful for everything. Of course, it’s not carbon steel, but it'll do the job. Great! I recommend it! You can sand down the handle and apply any color of stain you want.

Excellent. You can modify the handle and blade like I did, or use it in its original version—either way, it's a great model. I prefer this one over the standard no. 8 because the blade and handle shape suit me better (even before modifications).
