AUS-8 feature
AUS-8
AUS-8 is a Japanese stainless steel, equivalent to 440B steel, characterized by a good balance between corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and edge retention. The carbon content (0.7-0.75%) affects the hardness of the steel, while chromium (13-14.5%) provides very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. Vanadium additives (up to 0.26%) improve the homogeneity of the steel's crystal structure and increase the blade's resistance to abrasion. The steel also contains molybdenum (0.1-0.3%), manganese (0.5%), silicon (0.4-1%), and nickel (0.49%). After proper heat treatment, AUS-8 steel achieves a hardness of 58-60 HRC, making it a solid material with good cutting properties and durability. The steel is widely used in mid-range knives, mainly produced in Japan and Taiwan, such as the popular Ontario RAT 1.
Micarta feature
Micarta
Micarta is a composite material made of layers of fabric (including canvas, linen, and paper) soaked in resin and pressed under high pressure and temperature. It is characterized by high mechanical strength, resistance to impact, abrasion, and changing weather conditions, as well as dimensional stability, which makes it ideal for knife handles. The surface of Micarta provides a secure grip and can be finished smooth or left with a slight texture to improve control over the tool. The material does not conduct heat or electricity, tolerates contact with moisture well, and acquires a characteristic patina over time, emphasizing the individual style of the knife. Thanks to its combination of durability, environmental resistance, and unique appearance, Micarta is widely used in EDC, outdoor, and collector's knives.

Super tool until I chopped through the breast of a domestic goose together with the bone across a bamboo board. There are chips along the entire length of the blade—some are broken off, others are bent. I feel really sorry for the knife/cleaver. I even regret that I dared to chop... Maybe someone has some idea for reanimating and re-hardening the knife?

Very solid knife/cleaver. Quite heavy, but I consider this an advantage. The raw steel finish gives it character. The flat grind, which runs about 1/3 of the blade, helps it cut well even though the blade is quite thick. Very sharp straight out of the box. A nice touch is the bandage included in the set. The leather sheath is very nice. The downside is the rather slippery handle scales. I've already bought three of these for friends and everyone praises them.

A specific knife and cleaver in one. Sharp as a razor, it cuts and chops excellently. Solid, decorated sheath. I recommend it.

The knife is very well made, solid and sharp as a razor. When you hold it, you feel that it's a real 'beast' of a knife for tough work. Highly recommend.
