SOG SlimJim Folding Knife - Black

Engineered for everyday carry (EDC), this folding knife is lightweight and robust, making it an ideal companion for both household tasks and outdoor excursions.

Clip-Point profile blade

Featuring a Clip-Point profile, the blade is crafted from AUS-8 stainless steel, known for its excellent resistance to wear and corrosion. The steel undergoes a hardening process to achieve a 56-58 HRC level of hardness. A flat grind has been applied to the blade, complemented by a satin finish that provides a subdued matte appearance.

Thumb studs, flipper, locking mechanism

The knife can be deployed using a thumb stud or a flipper located on either side. Deployment is enhanced by the integration of the S.A.T. (SOG Assisted Technology) system. Once open, the blade is locked firmly in place by a Lockback mechanism. A jimping (notched section) has been added to the spine of the blade, providing a secure resting place for the thumb and offering greater control during cutting tasks.

Ergonomic handle

Featuring an ergonomically contoured handle crafted from 420 stainless steel with a Bead Blasted surface, the knife comes outfitted with a durable, convertible deep-carry clip for secure pocket attachment. At the handle’s end, a designated hole provides convenient placement for a rope or lanyard.

SOG Specialty Knives & Tools is an American brand founded in 1986 by Spencer Fraser, inspired by the MACV-SOG knife used by special forces during the Vietnam War. The first S1 Bowie model was created in collaboration with Japanese master blacksmith Ichiro Hattori and became an icon among tactical knives. SOG gained recognition with the SEAL 2000 model, which was adopted by the Navy SEALs and is now on display at the Navy SEALs museum in Fort Pierce. The brand also offers advanced multitools that use patented Compound Leverage technology, which nearly doubles the pressure of the pliers thanks to double pivot points. SOG products are characterized by their solid construction, precision workmanship, and are designed for both professionals and outdoor enthusiasts. Today, SOG tools are manufactured primarily in the US and Taiwan, continuing a tradition of quality and reliability.

I was looking for a knife that would be lightweight and small, but still in 'normal' proportions, one that you can put into the smallest pocket of a waist bag or pocket and it won't weigh you down. Used for small tasks on a trip or going out to the city – cutting string, tags, zip ties, or slicing an apple, sandwich, etc. It's simply perfect. Sits comfortably in the hand, very well made and factory sharpness is literally like a razor blade. It cuts paper with just a touch. The lock works flawlessly, in about 9 out of 10 one-handed openings it opens fully, sometimes it slightly jams when almost fully open, but that's because not enough force was used to open it. Everything fits together beautifully, it's sturdy, the clip is strong and positioned right at the edge of the knife, so it doesn't stick out of your pocket. You just don't want to put it down.
