Powered by CO2 capsule
The HDS 68 operates with just one 12 g CO2 capsule, which is installed in the grip. A single CO2 cartridge delivers enough power for 10 shots. The muzzle energy of each round reaches up to 16J, ensuring that the impact is strongly felt even through thick clothing.
CO2 capsule activation mechanism
An advanced mechanism integrated into the HDS shotgun enables rapid capsule piercing:
- The CO2 cartridge loaded in the chamber does not get pierced immediately,
- activation of capsule piercing is triggered by striking the cap – making the HDS68 immediately operational.
This unique system makes it possible to keep the shotgun loaded and primed for action with a full CO2 capsule.

By pressing the button on the handguard, the shotgun breaks open for reloading, allowing two .68 caliber rounds—one per barrel—to be inserted. The built-in selector lets you choose whether firing the trigger will discharge a single barrel or both barrels simultaneously.

A real powerful beast. This shotgun really has massive power. Very pleasant for recreational shooting. Easy and great to use, provides lots of fun.

The weak point of this weapon is the very poor plastic under the barrel, which over time cracks right next to the barrel opening mechanism. I had two of these shotguns and both got damaged in the same spot due to fatigue. Besides that, you can't buy just the housing anywhere, not even from Umarex’s official representative in Poland.

I've had this sawn-off since April 2022, and every trip to the forest with this double-barrel brings a lot of joy. I tested its effectiveness on many building materials because that's my profession. For example, from 10 meters, it goes through a 3 cm VIM construction board, or two plasterboard sheets. It tears plywood to shreds. I should add that I also shot 0.5 caliber steel slingshot balls and 0.5 caliber lead balls from a black powder pistol. And although the range and speed decrease, the stopping power increases.

Better for self-defense than the HDR for two reasons: 1 - it’s so solid it could be used as a club (the barrels are heavy) 2 - you can shoot almost anything that fits into the unrifled barrels. As someone said before - it’s worth buying Devastator balls or even a mold to make your own projectiles.

I recommend the RAM shotgun for rubber balls, it is very effective.

Great shotgun. You can feel the power when you shoot. Absolutely recommend buying “devastator” balls. It makes an impression. I don’t regret the purchase at all.

The weapon is fine, but for self-defense purposes, 2 shots are definitely not enough. In a dangerous situation, stress comes into play and you might miss, there may be several attackers, etc. There might not be time to reload. It’s worth considering shotguns with more shots, but the price then becomes a bit prohibitive…

I bought it outside Militari (because they delayed by more than 2 months before introducing it). The airgun is great. Rear loading means you can shoot anything that fits in the barrel (nails driven into a chopped candle fly decently). As for self-defense, even Umarex 2.8 gram rubber balls hurt quite a bit if you hit a bone close to the skin. Another bonus you can add is a flashlight with strobe, which works and stuns excellently.
