One of the best, if not the best PCA-type pistols. One pump is enough and the pistol is ready to fire. Front post and rear sight are very nice, I like shooting with open sights and these are definitely a plus. The air pistol is accurate even at 40 meters—my backyard isn't any longer :)
Exceptionally precise composite air pistol PCA with a rifled barrel designed to meet the expectations of both seasoned marksmen and beginners. Propulsion of the pellet, delivered at a consistent velocity, is supplied by pre-compressed air—classifying this as a PCA (Pre Charged Air) system, merging advantages of high-end, technologically sophisticated PCP air pistols with the reliability and cost-effectiveness of traditional spring-piston models.
The integration of these features brings several advantages, including:
- consistent shot accuracy—using a pumping mechanism to inject a uniform volume of air with each shot ensures a stable muzzle velocity, akin to spring air pistols,
- absence of recoil on firing—actuating the trigger opens the valve, with all moving parts under 5 g in weight, thereby minimizing disturbance to the pistol’s alignment as the pellet exits the barrel—mirroring the performance found in CO2-driven and premium PCP models,
- no ongoing expenses—power is generated by the shooter through manual preparation before each shot, with the process of opening the action, loading the pellet, and closing the bolt compressing the air charge inside the chamber.
Manufactured from a blend of metal and robust ABS polymer, the pistol features a grip with anatomical shaping designed to position the hand comfortably for optimal forearm alignment. The grip surfaces have a textured, non-slip finish to maintain secure handling.
The structure of the grip and trigger guard (for trigger protection) makes it clear that the pistol is engineered for one-handed (target) shooting and for two-handed tactical stances using the non-dominant index finger for support. Additionally, the trigger guard’s front surface is textured to offer improved finger placement.
Pumping the gun is initiated by pressing a button shaped like a hammer, found below the rear sight. The barrel tilts upwardfor loading a 4.5 mm pellet. Lowering the barrel compresses the air. Featuring a barrel length of 17 cm with right-hand 12-groove rifling, the barrel ensures excellent accuracy at close range.
Sighting radius on the pistol is over 20 cm. The sighting system consists of a fixed front fiber optic sight and an adjustable rear sight for both windage and elevation. An 11 mm standard mounting rail is integrated into the top for optics attachment.
Ambidextrous construction and the attributes outlined above make it a perfect training instrument to hone shooting proficiency for both accomplished shooters and beginners.
With its minimal shooting expenses, the HW 40 is highly suitable for training law enforcement personnel—drills include sight alignment, rapid target acquisition, trigger discipline, and breath control.

Weihrauch Sport is a German manufacturer of sporting and hunting air rifles, operating since 1899. From the very beginning, the company has focused on precision and reliability, thanks to which its products are among the most valued in the world. In 1951, it presented the HW 35 model with a two-stage Rekord trigger, which is still considered a benchmark in its class today. An important development was the introduction of the HW 90 air rifle, which featured a gas spring developed in collaboration with Theoben. This solution ensures greater durability and smoother operation than a traditional steel spring. Models such as the HW 77, HW 45, and HW 90 have made their mark in the history of shooting and are chosen by competitors and enthusiasts around the world.

For me, the best lightweight PCA pistol. I won’t discuss the price, even though I’m tempted. But to the point. The workmanship is simply excellent for this type of construction. This pin can indeed work loose, but checking it every few dozen shots and gently tapping it back in solves the problem completely. Of course, adding a drop of oil every 500 shots gives the airgun a VERY long life. Highly recommended.

I once had this pistol, bought a used one in 2008 for 320 PLN. I know—there's inflation, stagnation, special operations etc., but close to a thousand PLN for a recreational can-shooting airgun is a bit much. The gun is fun and accurate for backyard shooting, no notable recoil, it's really minimal. The composite stock feels very good, not at all like cheap garbage. The older models didn't have tru glo and people used to complain about that on forums. For me, tru glo does the job. For casual plinking at 10, maybe up to 15 meters, it's great. If you want to do major damage in the backyard, this isn't the tool for that.

Advantages: great, sensitive sport trigger, long sight radius, fairly accurate, fun Disadvantages: after 100 shots, the pin holding the hammer works loose, the optics rail is plastic = it will wear out, and a lot of force is needed to cock the piston.

I also bought this pistol and agree with previous opinions. In every piece of this air pistol the rear sight screw is looser than it should be—so it loosens a bit after practically every shot. If you apply a drop of anaerobic adhesive to the thread, the air pistol will work again, but you'll lose the warranty. If you don't use glue and keep tightening the same screw, you'll strip the thread and lose the warranty. If you avoid tightening in order not to wear out the thread, the screw will eventually come out—you'll lose it and again lose the warranty. If you return the air pistol and buy a Zoraki from a competitor, you'll save Militaria from awkward questions and yourself from unnecessary nerves. My rating—one star. The air pistol cannot shoot accurately because Militaria forbids any method of blocking the often-loosening screw. I wonder if the manufacturer would also void the warranty for blocking the screw with anaerobic glue (which is exactly what it's designed for in such cases)??? We're talking about Weihrauch and an air pistol costing nearly 1100 PLN.

Accurate, well-made, you can practice.
-
Fits very well in the hand. Very good build quality. I recommend it.
-
Accurate, good pistol, unbeatable at this price.
-
Great air pistol for sport shooting, you can also use it indoors in case of bad weather.
-
Accurate, well-made, you can practice indoors in bad weather, it's my first pistol of this type. I think it will work well and I'm satisfied.
-
Great for beginners, very precise.
-
Very good, precise air pistol. I've shot several thousand pellets with it (10–20m is a good distance for it) and I'm completely satisfied. This is already my second one; with my first, after very intensive use, the piston lost its seal—it was replaced with a new one. And this one is holding up.
-
Good, accurate air pistol, excellent quality as is always the case with HW.
-
The pistol is generally well made, accurate, and reliable. The Achilles' heel is—as already mentioned—the rear sight, the adjustment of which seems to act up on its own.
