Wonderful glasses, very comfortable to use. They do not fall off or fly off during active movement or running. Considering the quality of construction and the presence of ballistic protection, the price is justified. If you do not need polarized lenses, you can get the same model cheaper. I recommend it.
Wiley X Recon Tactical Sunglasses - Captivate Polarized Black Mirror/Matte Black
Protective eyewear equipped with a large rectangular frame designed to fit very large corrective lenses. Offering light transmission of 13%, the tinted lenses improve wearing comfort and help minimize eye fatigue. Effective protection is provided against various flying objects. Meets the requirements of ANSI Z.87.1 and EN166F standards.
Wiley X stands among the top providers of eye protection for the United States military, athletes, and individuals who regularly engage in outdoor activities.
polycarbonate lenses with t-shell coating and captivate technology
Polarized lenses crafted from shatter-resistant Selenite polycarbonate deliver 13% light transmission. Captivate technology optimizes vision by amplifying image sharpness, contrast, and color intensity. The lenses shield eyes from harmful UVA and UVB rays, while the advanced T-Shell coating offers enhanced scratch protection and extends longevity. An additional oleophobic coating minimizes the accumulation of dust, dirt, oil, snow, and water, ensuring the lenses remain easy to clean.
frames made of triloid, hvp technology
Frames with an ergonomic design are crafted from durable Triloid nylon, providing an optimal fit while maintaining comfort during the use of headsets or hearing protectors. Non-slip rubber temple tips and nose pads ensure the glasses remain securely in place. Both frames and lenses are produced with HVP technology (High Velocity Protection), delivering effective defense against eye injuries from high-velocity projectiles. Removable side shields offer extra protection against threats entering from areas the visor does not fully cover.
Standards and certifications
- EN.166F - compliant with the European standard for medium energy impact protection. Frame and lenses are capable of withstanding a 6 mm steel ball weighing 0.86 g, impacting at speeds of 162 km/h.
- ANSI Z87.1 - defines the impact resistance criteria for visor and frame. Evaluations include resistance to both high-mass steel object impacts and high-velocity steel ball impacts, ensuring defense against standard mechanical threats.
- UV protection - visor delivers complete UVA/UVB defense (minimum 99.9% filtration).

Selenite visors are made of unbreakable polycarbonate, which provides high visual clarity and UV protection.
T-Shell is a coating on Wiley X glasses that resists scratches, protects lenses from damage and extends their life.
Frames made of Triloid nylon provide lightweight and highly comfortable glasses. Triloid features optimal hardness and is highly resistant to impacts and falls.
Captivate lens technology is an advanced filter system used in sunglasses that aims to improve the quality of vision by filtering out harmful light and improving color perception and contrast.
The Oleophobic coating repels dirt, oil, water and other substances, so the lenses stay cleaner and easier to maintain. The technology makes the lenses more durable and comfortable to wear.
EN166 is a European standard for optical requirements and mechanical protection for glasses and goggles. Optical requirements include light transmission and diffusion, refractive properties, heat and UV resistance, corrosion and ignition. Mechanical protection is the resistance to object impact, within which there are 4 levels designated by the letters S, F, B and A, where S is the least protection and A is the highest.
Z87.1 standard developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for the durability of eye protectors. The standard includes two types of tests (3 tests) for the impact resistance of the lens and the stability of its seating in the frame: resistance to High Mass and High Velocity objects.
According to this standard, the frame and visor of the glasses can withstand the impact of a 6.35 mm diameter steel BBs traveling at 45 m/s (164.6 km/h).
