Za-Pas Serbian Chopper Knife - Brown

Robust cleaver with a Full Tang construction, designed for intensive food preparation tasks and field use. It is equipped with a wide Drop-Point blade, made of X50CrMoV15 stainless steel and finished with a high flat grind. The blade surface is finished using the Stonewash method, which helps conceal marks formed during use. The contoured handle with brown Micarta scales ensures a secure grip and high durability during intensive use.

X50CrMoV15 stainless steel with a hardness of 57-59 HRC

The blade is made of X50CrMoV15 stainless steel, hardened to 57-59 HRC. The steel used contains alloying additives, including manganese and vanadium, which contribute to increased wear resistance. The combination of the material properties and proper heat treatment helps maintain cutting edge durability during regular use.

Wide Drop-Point blade

The cleaver is equipped with a wide Drop-Point blade with a length of 175 mm and a thickness of 3 mm. The applied high flat grind provides good cutting properties and works well for preparing and portioning food. The cutting edge is sharpened at an angle of 20 degrees. The blade surface is finished using the Stonewash method, which gives the steel its distinctive grey shade and covers it with fine, irregular marks. This finish helps conceal minor scratches and marks formed during use, making them less visible on the blade surface.

Full Tang construction, Micarta scales

The knife is made with a Full Tang construction, in which the steel tang runs through the entire length of the handle. The scales are made of brown Micarta, a composite material distinguished by high durability and resistance to use conditions. The scales fit closely to the knife construction and are fastened with stainless steel screws, which ensures handle stability during intensive work.

X50CrMoV15 feature
X50CrMoV15
X50CrMoV15 (1.4116) is a high-quality stainless steel widely used in the production of kitchen knives and medical tools. The carbon content (0.45-0.55%) ensures good hardness and edge durability, while chromium (14-15%) guarantees high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The steel also contains molybdenum (up to 0.6%), vanadium (up to 0.2%), manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), and a small amount of nickel (up to 1%). It achieves a hardness of 55-57 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for knives with good cutting properties, easy maintenance, and corrosion resistance.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
Micarta feature
Micarta
Micarta is a composite material made of layers of fabric (including canvas, linen, and paper) soaked in resin and pressed under high pressure and temperature. It is characterized by high mechanical strength, resistance to impact, abrasion, and changing weather conditions, as well as dimensional stability, which makes it ideal for knife handles. The surface of Micarta provides a secure grip and can be finished smooth or left with a slight texture to improve control over the tool. The material does not conduct heat or electricity, tolerates contact with moisture well, and acquires a characteristic patina over time, emphasizing the individual style of the knife. Thanks to its combination of durability, environmental resistance, and unique appearance, Micarta is widely used in EDC, outdoor, and collector's knives.
