Grenades and grenade launchers in ASG definitely increase the chances in a fight against multiple attackers or in a situation where accurate aiming is not possible. A hail of bullets flying out of the barrel of a grenade launcher can often stop an advancing enemy in a very effective way. Both airsoft grenades and grenade launchers are modeled on combustible counterparts. The standard diameter of an ASG grenade is 40 mm, exactly like its combustible counterpart. Grenades and mines are spring- or gas-propelled - either compressed carbon dioxide or green gas.
To fire ASG grenades, a grenade launcher is essential. Airsoft grenade launchers are available in stand-alone designs resembling a rifle or shotgun, as well as models dedicated to mounting under a replica weapon - for example, under the grip of an M4 carbine. Among grenade launchers there are also models resembling rocket launchers, such as the RPG or AT4. To use them, 40 mm ASG grenades are required.
Grenade manufacturers use metal to make them, including aluminum machined on CNC machines. In addition to grenades dedicated for use with grenade launchers, hand-held models are available. Propelled by gas, they can eject pellets or make a loud bang when exploded. Gas mines dedicated to ASG games come in the form of trip mines or anti-personnel mines. Depending on the design, mines can eject pellets, powder or water when activated. To create ASG mines, durable plastic is primarily used. Models detonated remotely by remote control are also available.
