How do photochromic glasses work?
In low light conditions, photochromic pigments are arranged in a way that allows light to flow freely through the lenses. In this state, the lenses are transparent or slightly tinted. If the lenses are exposed to UV radiation, the photochromic pigments change their chemical structure. The energy of the radiation causes the atomic bonds to break and parts of the molecule to rotate, resulting in a darker lens color. The most popular colors are gray, brown and gray-green.
